The game has been improved on some points and as that was done it became worse on other points, I say worse because we are still not there where the game should be.
The things I've noticed:
- Rollback of Laser hits is not working properly. I notice that every time when the target mech has a high ping compared to mine (mine is 110, target around 300) then lasers will not nearly do the damage they are supposed to. Even though there is a rollback in place, when the mechs keep moving (even in lumbering assaults!!!) they can mitigate the damage very easily even when I can keep my croshairs on the same location for the duration of the laser shots.
- AC fire rollback (and PPC) seems to work fine when your ping is higher than that of the target (my ping again 110 and target below 100). But when that targets ping goes way up (to around 300) you can shoot hits according your screen and see the flash of damage on the armor of the target but no actual damage will come through. The other way around however is as destructive as it should be, so if my ping would be 300 and theirs around 100 then I will clobber them without them being able to lay so much as a hair on me.
I've not been able to confirm this for missile fire as of yet but I think it works about as well. In other words not.
Lastly I need to get something of my chest.
The whole damage balancing is suffering because of this. As DarkJaguar explained in his post very clearly: this game is NO WHERE NEAR the game that FASA designed.
Further implementation of the known history, Clan and Innersphere wars, weaponry changes and new equipment is all suffering because the damned basis of this game is buggy to say it mildly.
I have never been a whiner in any game, I will complain while in a drop and fellow corp people can attest to this. That said...
PGI, you've taken up the challenge to make this game. Now make it happen. Make us proud to be enjoying the game I and others have been waiting for decades to be brought into reality. Don't waste our investments to double timing on too many projects... do it proper.
