So, is this the place where we can talk about previous MechWarrior PC games?

the best mechwarrior game was mechwarrior 2, 31st century combat. To this day I still play it on my DosBox! :P

Not To be Forgotten... The Sound of 2 enemy Fusion Reactors going Critical on the fields of River City of the X-Box MechWarrior original Game(You had to get one of them to go Critical with an Alpha just as the other one was walking by it...) My best Single Player Score against the computer was 35 Kills in Single Combat, 'course the Prometheus was a really cool Variant on the AS7-D(I think that is the one the X-box used). With a Kit-Fox I managed 21...What really Sucks is that NO One has coded a Four-Legger into any Game Yet..Check them all, nowhere to be found.. Used to use them all the time in table top rules. Custom 100 T with the XL engine was the only way to get the thing to carry any weaponry worth using...Talk about braggin rights as a coder to be able to get a four legger "Crab-Walking" on a battle field!! Can you imagine what it would look like??

Nice! I have Mechwarrior 3050 for SNES, but not the other game where you go in the cafe for jobs and such.

I used to own MW3, MW4, and MechCommander 2 and really enjoyed them. I would like to have those games again, and I see them on eBay from time to time, but I don't know if they will work on my PC now. I downloaded a trial version of MW4 off some shareware site, and it worked, but it was buggy (Windows 7). Do those programs still work on Windows 7?

I never got to play the X-box version, but really wanted to. I think my brother has an old X-box. Maybe I could find those carts on eBay as well...

I've played MW4, MW4: Black Knight, MW4: Mercenaries and MechCommander 2 this year. You can get some of them for free (legally, even) and the only one that was a little buggy was MC2 but I found the solution. Google is your friend.

Yeah, MW4 is now free to download, just google it. Also, look for it's mods, they add TONS of new mechs. The Latest MW4 mod also lets you use the new mechs in the campaign, makes it super awesome. As for MW3 and all the mechcommaders, I've gotten all of them to work on XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Just require a little tweaking sometimes to make it so.

Could you be a little more specific on that?

Do you mean the MekTek mod? I didn't realize they got around to adding the mechs to the campaign? Can't seem to find any information (or a download link) on the latest version.

ah, sorry, my bad. Yeah, I meant the MekTek. Should be their latest version. If you can't find it maybe just send me specifically a message with your e-mail and I'll see if I can't e-mail you the MekTek Mods myself (only if you want), I know I have them sitting around somewhere.......

If you liked MechCommander 2 search for MechCommander omnitek, it is a upgraded version of MC2, totally free, with several extra campaigns available and of course far more mechs.

Hmmm... I spent some time researching this last night. I found a number of websites that claimed to allow you to download MechWarrior 4 Vengeance. The ones that looked legit allowed downloads of trial versions. The ones that offered downloads of the whole thing were also saturated with blocks of Chinese text and links to scantily-clad young ladies who seemed to desire male companionship. They seemed likely to give my PC an STD! :)
Also I am not experienced with BitTorrent and my search for a reliable client led me to the same kinds of seedy-looking sites. Yes, I am a n00b at this kind of thing. :)

@Peregrine
Have you tried the MW:LL site? If I'm not mistaken, I think they might have a link there for it. If not try searching for "MW4 Online" Mine works fine in Win 7 64. Haven't tried the online part yet, but there are suppose to be Servers still active.

Here are a couple of reputable-looking sites which have MW4 related materials, patches, mission editors, but not the main game:

http://www.gamespot....ds/platform/pc/

http://www.fileplane...or-4:-Vengeance

I tried the MW:LL site and did some searching for MW4 Online. No luck yet.

if i remember correctly, playing online won't work anymore unless you do a bunch of port forwarding stuff. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Not sure about that but you can play MWLL online for free today using this Installation guide!

A great opportunity to play a great title for many who missed it.

Regarding MW:LL, is there anything to "play" if you don't drop with a group? I never played it; thought it was just a place for premade groups to drop together. No?
