First Mech - Critique My Build Please!

I have finally saved up enough C-Bills for my first mech, so working on a versatile build that will be fun to play.
Right now I have a build using a K-2 chassis with 2x ER-PPC and 2x 5AC. The biggest shortcoming I see to this so far is I can only fit 3 tons of ammo for the 5ACs since I am using both ferro and endo so I have enough tonnage available for armor.
However, on the bright side I anticipate it will pack a punch at range, be able to hold its own in close combat with the help of the 5ACs, and with a 300XL it will be a lot faster & more manueverable than the trial Atlas I am currently waddling around in.
That said, since this would be my first purchase I'd love to get some more experienced players to check out the build & let me know if they see any major shortcomings - or ideas for how to fit in more ammo without sacrificing anything major.
Thanks

From looking at the build you're going to have issues with hills, heat and ammo.
Make sure to stay back from hills enough that your torso elevation will let you aim at people on them.
Since you've only got 3 tons of AC/5 you'll want to save those for good shots or when you're too hot for the ERPPCs.
You'll also want to remember that your two different projectiles have different speeds, so don't use them both at the same time against moving targets.
I run a similar build, with 2 more DHS, 5tons of ammo, and ERLarges instead of ERPPCs. It's quite effective at range.
As to the actual build, if you shave the arms to 3armor each and drop Ferro you can pick up a 4th ton of ammo, I find that once the arms are gone people are more likely to ignore you, and also the arms don't really help your survivability much, as the high mount keeps them from absorbing much fire aimed at the torso.

But like others said, ppcs in the arms. Great for shooting over cover.

The head is the first location ammo gets pulled from. And I've NEVER lost a pult to ammo explosion in the head. Also, even if, by the time the opponent is critting your head, you're dead anyway.

am I the only one who still puts his PPCs in the arms so that I can, IDK, shoot up and down hills?

With that build, there are two things I noted:
1) too much back armor. Swap about 10 pts per torso forward. If you get a Jenner in your hip pocket, you are probably screwed anyhow.
2) Too much engine. No real huge advantage to the speed on that design. Downgrade to a 280XL (heck, even a 260XL if you want more guns) and get another heat sink, better armor and more ammo.
otherwise, perfectly doable.

It's the price I paid for mounting that much firepower: had to shave the arm armor.
Besides, I like being ignored once the arms are gone, like I'm some sort of missile-pult.
