This happens so often, the devs HAVE to know about it by now...about 50% of matches, I will get a graphics freeze halfway through the battle, usually when I'm right up in the face of an enemy mech and it's either him or me that's going to go down in seconds depending on who gets a good crit first.

about 10% of the time, hitting CTRL-alt-del and then cancelling out of the Task Manager screen that comes up will get the game moving again, but usually it's a total game lockup and requires using the windows task manager to kill the process and restart.

come on guys, forget balance issues for a few days and fix this. A lockup is far more serious than worrying about how many PPCs or flamers you can fire at the same time before the boating kludge kicks in.

Yes it is aggravating in the extreme! Had that happen face to face with a highlander today, and the sound goes into a loop when it happens also.

Alt tab out and back in once or twice... if that doesn't work you need to restart the client, and might even need to access it through Task Manager. It was thought to be an Nvidia card/drivers thing, but my ATI card (7850OC w/current drivers) also does it after last patch too. I also delete my shaders folder every time before starting the client anymore...

Do you delete the whole folder, or just the contents?

Delete the whole folder. Whenever you restart the client, it generates a new one. This folder quickly accumulates junk files that screw up the games rendering, (flickering terrain, grayed out areas or mechs, etc) so it's best to delete it as often as you need to restart the client, or every few hours during marathon sessions.

It is a result of a cpu overload memory dumping and it cuts off the game only part way.

If you keep your task manager open after the crash you can watch the memory keep climbing pretty steadily about 300 to 500 K per second, for as long as you care to watch.

They don't want to acknowledge this bug because it doesn't happen to everybody, so there has to be some sort of hardware component to it. At least that is the story they are telling. If that is the case, at least try to figure out what hardware is the culprit, so I can replace that part. At least acknowledge SOMETHING. There are certainly a large number of us that are experiencing the problem. If they want to make the most $$ they need to make their game play for everybody.

I just had this "screen freeze with sound" happen for the first time today (ten seconds into the match), as soon as it happened I alt+tab'd and was able to see the MWO mouse icon and move it, though I was unable to see the menu options. On top of that I went to perfmon and verified my computer was running like a champ, the CPU was at 14%, memory at 4/12 GB and MWO was responding without lockup, so I checked the link speed and verified I was sending and receiving fine. **UPDATE** It Seems now that I had this happen once it's happening every game, but I was able to get it to respond after hitting ctrl+alt then ctrl+alt+del then cancel the task manager followed by clicking on the MWO screen, it's even happened three times in one game and I was able to recover!
