Wow thanks for all the great feedback! I have been mostly reading the forums since I started playing the game, haven't posted much but one thing I did notice is that this is a very supportive community. The overwhleming feedback was that my weapon grouping and having a 3rd PPC and Pulse Laser on the torso in the same group was just wrong. I knew it was wonky when I built it but I thought maybe it would work. Using ideas from several different responses here is what I came up with to try tonight.
2 ER PPC + 2 AC/2's and I added a BAP since I have never used one so I am curious as to what impact it will have and at least it might help my teammates particularly any LRM boats out there. Here is the new build. I also added in Ferro Fibrous so I could squeeze in more AC/2 ammo.

Personally I think you're running a bit too much back armor. One of the great things about the catapault is that you can swing that massive head around and make it REALLY hard for anyone to shoot your back. I would recommend going down to 14 or 15 on the CT and add it to the front, and 10 or 12 on the rear side panels and add the rest to the front. A minor nit pick I know, but living one more shot can make a big difference when it comes down to it.

I'm not really sold on BAP use in this mech, but since you're just trying it out go for it.

BAP effects:
Increase sensor range
Decrease time to get target info
Detect enemy shut down mechs within a small radius (I want to say like 100m)
Negate enemy ECM within 150m

Ok...a quick update. WOW...the new build worked awesome last night! My first match in I got a kill right away and a number of assists. Had a few matches after that where they focus fired my CT and I went down quick but I was still getting at least 200 damage off before I went down. My best match of the night I got 3 kills and did over 500 damage! I even had a match where a Spider tried to trap me in the "circle of death" but with the rapid fire from the Dual AC/2's I managed to put him down pretty quickly and continue on without too much damage. In the pre XL-300 and too many PPCs build I was pretty easy to own by circle strafing lights. Not anymore!

My stats and more importantly my contributions to the team have already improved greatly with all the suggestions I got in the forums. Thanks everyone!

This is the final tweak of the build I ended up running with last night. I am going to leave it this way for the foreseeable future, at least until I grind out the last of the XP to get the K2 to master. CPLT-K2

You know yesterday I was going to suggest removing BAP and adding another DSHS when you had FF installed. Since what you have is definitely working for you... NEVERMIND!

My K2..

Used to run on 4ppcs.. After heat nerf, running on 2 uac5 (8tons of ammo), 4MLs and a 300XL engine..

Can get a few kills per match and average of 300 to 400 dmg..

Just remember, K2 is support.. Charging in front gets u killed within a short time.. Play support and you will see the wonders of k2..

Not sure if I helped u here..

This is a little upgrade for yours CPLT-K2.. Simply add FF to get more armor in the legs to avoid legging/crit ammunition issues and 1 more DHS to keep that heat a little bit down :)

I didn't they are still in the head as the original. Not the safest place in a catapult, but the alternative is in the side torsoes..

Thanks! Another reply mentioned that previously but when I originally was modifying the old crazy ERPPC + Med Pulse Laser build it would not let me put FF armor upgrade on. I think I figured out what I had done wrong was an order of operations issue, I had not removed all of the old equipment and ammo from the old build to free up enough slots for the FF upgrade. When I get home tonight I will upgrade to FF and add another heatsink. I tend to use the 2 AC/2's a lot more than the PPC's but still anything that can help keep the heat down is a good thing! Last night I made the mistake of not checking my current heat level and I fired off an alpha strike to kill a mech that also unfortunately put me far enough over max heat that my CT exploded from heat damage. Another heatsink and being more careful about checking temps PRE-Alpha strike will go a long way toward fixing that. ;)

If you are using the AC2 more than I'd DEFINITELY switch the ERPPCs for PPCs. That will do wonders for heat management.
