Back in closed beta, when you critted ammo in another mech, you'd hear and see it exploding. It was pretty freaking awesome.

Likewise, when your own ammo got critted, you'd hear it exploding in your own mech. It wasn't an instant death either. You'd hear a chain of explosions, destroying the internals of your mech over a period of a few seconds. You'd still be alive and able to fight for a while, while your mech just got torn apart.

We still have ammo explosions, but I don't remember seeing any of these effects any time recently.

Were they removed? If so, can anyone explain why they were removed?

I had no idea where to post this thread, since it's not really a game balance issue, or about meta game, or suggestsions, or upcoming features.

It never seemed loud enough when your own ammo exploded. I agree that it was cool. I'm just hoping that if it comes back, they make it sound a lot more dramatic.

Too bad we don't have a General Discussion area to talk about stuff like this anymore... I hate the way the forum is structured now.

I would put it in suggestions. "Make ammo explosions louder and more obvious."

I totally agree with you. In closed beta, you knew when you died via ammo explosion. Would definitely recommend posting this in suggestions forum.

Well, I'm not really making a suggestion here that they should make it louder, as much as I'm asking whether they made it quieter, or whether I'm just imagining the difference.

And, if they did remove those effects, I'm wondering why they did so.

Yeah it was like the sound of popcorn cooking off in a tin can, it was awesome.

They said its still in but you cannot hear it because its so quiet. Makes no sense at all like a lot of stuff in this game...

I don't remember any of this popcorn sounds from an ammo explosion... how early in closed beta was it?

In any case, 1 ton of AC2 ammo should go off like this....
