I'd wager most people are waiting for them to
I predict lots of thanks for the effort, plenty of we think there might be a few people who have some issues and lots and lots of "We're looking into". Also more lip service to how much they care about and listen to the community. Then same old same old until launch. I hope PGI proves me wrong, but I have my doubts.

Mr. Team Leader:
Sorry for the late notice - The next townhall meeting - #2, Electric Boogaloo - will be taking place on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 9PM Eastern (just like last time). I encourage all people who want to forward topics of discourse to either PM me or email me at theandersbot at geemail dot com.
As we continue our discussions in the game, there were a few things that got missed last time - seismic sensors, mech sizing, as well as things that were brought up as new business - Community Representatives. Those things will be on the agenda for this week's meeting.
If any group is new and wants to introduce themselves, we can allot some time for that. Hopefully we won't have 2 hours of introductions to get through and we can get more into the meat and potatoes of the discussion.
From everyone here at #savemwo, we hope to see you there!
Gentlemen of the thread, if you could repost/twitter/facebook (even on the MWO page, maybe) to get the word out about this, that would be fantastic. Thank you kindly.
Robotically Yours,
Anders

The 2PPC+Gauss fotm has only been in place for a little over a week. I am already starting to see it fade. Before that, yes PPCs were dominant for a bit. Since then they came out with two patches that address it, the last one being on the 30th of July... 9 days ago.
So yes, it needs a little time to adjust.
Check this out, from the patch announcement thread. This guy thinks that the high-alpha long-range meta's only been a problem for a very short while, and thinks that the 2x1 PPC/Gauss combo has only been around for a single week. I can't wait for him to learn about jumpsniping next week.
Considering that we've been witnessing The Problem for several months now, it raises a good question. How do we convince people like this that problems exist, when they play so rarely or at such low, unorganized skill levels that the real balance never becomes apparent? How can we convince a person like Belorion, or Russ, that 6PPC Stalkers weren't an existential threat in and of themselves, and that the same cookie-cutter sniper builds have been go-to variants for a very long time now?
There's a very, very real chance they honestly believe it's only been this way "for a week" and that #saveMWO is just another ripple in response to the "latest flavor of the month." How do you correct that misperception?
(For context, he's also a Legendary Founder, and believes the game's balance cannot be corrected without Ghost Heat, which is another challenge. I've seen somebody (konniving?) posting lots of old videos of really exciting gameplay during the golden period, might it be wise to drag up more old footage as an example of when things played better without the need for ghost heat?)

Hey guys,
Just following up. Do we know the status of the closed townhall audio files? No worries, and no rush, but wanted to listen to them before the next Townhall.
Thanks!
Cheers.

Although GG posting this over and over and over again without offering anything more than "help help I'm being oppressed!", it really saves us the effort of making an anti-democracy strawman to argue against.

He stated that 50% of most players given the option will play in 3rd person. Is this because most of those players have identified it as a advantage? I don't know the exact statistics for this game currently, but I know around the end of closed beta to release of open beta no one had the choice and the community was growing out of control. Have we forgotten that half of the challenge to playing a game is just understanding what to do? How to react? Why does a game that was made popular because of how it played need to be dumb'd down? If I was given the option to play first or third person, I would choose third. Not because I have problems controlling my mech or seeing the terrain or seeing friendly mechs, but because it would offer even the smallest advantage over those that choose to not run 3rd person or those struggling (Most of us are here to play and win).
Now they seem to plan on keeping the 1pv and 3pv que's separate, which is all fine and dandy but what about those that are seeking to win by all costs? What if no one continues to play 1pv and everyone moves to 3pv? If a certain level of players are suggesting it would make there lives easier by playing in 3pv, than what about the players that have no issues playing at all in 1pv? The small amount of additional information from a 3pv would yield even more potential for end game players.
I'm really starting to grow tired of there inexperience in gaming and especially mech games. I'm not here to speculate on how the game should be designed or the way it should be done, but to state my experience of 6+ years in the largest ladder based league for any mech game to ever exist (RIP Neuromancer). Instead of constantly coming up with all these new idea's, why don't they finish the ones off from over a year ago? You don't get better by making it easier on yourself, you get better by pushing yourself to learn and adapt even if it means dying a few hundred times.

Russ's post pretty much tells us everything we need to know. ALA What Lemming said:
All the constructive, well rationaled, well thought out discussions dont matter. only knee jerk emotional reactions do.
Then again if thats what they WANT whyd they split up the general discussion forum? Ive heard stories that that place was forum emotion central lol
Kind of like the thread after Russ's letter thing.
Yeah, one of the guys on our forum summarized Russ's post as this:
"His whole post boils down to: "People be stupid and we couldn't figure out a way around their stupid using either a proper tutorial or HUD elements."

Seriously, it's okay coming from certain people, but it's **** posting if you're not one of the crew, why on Earth would people not feel welcome or that this is just a movement for a certain group of people. Don't be surprised when people are turned off by who's running this and please stop saying everyone's input is welcome. Everyone who cheers and thinks you guys are the bestest for doing this is welcome. Anyone who doesn't think this is going to "save" the game is the bad guy who actually has seen the past performance by PGI and can project the future reaction.
Besides, after the non answer today we'll see a lot more "**** posting". Somehow I don't think they'll be treated the same way.

I think there's some confusion out there on a few points:
- The Townhall #1 Audio Stream has been available, unedited, at the following link for the past few weeks: https://soundcloud.c...wnhall-unedited
- Townhall #2 has not occurred yet. Due to my moving/being sick/work, I wasn't able to coordinate it for Tuesday as much as I would have liked. Townhall #2 is occurring on Tuesday, August 13th, and will be moderated by Anders. I may be there? It depends on my sanity level at the time.
- Mecha Lingua is open to any community rep who wants to be a part of the broader and ongoing conversation surrounding #saveMWO. If you want access to Mecha Lingua, PM me with your Skype name and I will add you. I've cleaned out my PM box, so I'm available to receive your requests again. Only folks signed-up for Mecha Lingua will be able to speak at future Town Halls.

You sounded lonely for a reply so I will provide one for you. No player in this game wants a group with singular agendas to rule there fun. Your group is hell bent on projecting your own ideas on PGI and even telling players to ask for refunds just to get your way. Is this not extortion of PGI/IGP and there right to produce a game that is fun profitable and supports the team that is working on said game=MWO? Your initial ideas were good but it soon became apparent to me this group just wants to control what PGI/IGP puts into the game based on your own and your little groups opinions. That leaves out 95% of the opinions of other players in this game. It is all right if you individually ask or post topics and post about your opinions PGI/IGP is pretty lenient about this just look at all my topics and posts against some of there decisions but in no way have I ever wanted to harm PGI/IGP based on there core game design only to help them understand what I feel a true MechWarrior game was and what MWO could be like based on them.
