I use both the 9k and 9S Victors as low heat high alpha brawlers with 360XL's. As with most pop-tarts I wanted long range precision, but also wanted mobility and speed to quickly relocate around a battlefield. Even took the girl out and recorded a few games...

Sometimes I think the balance problems don't really exist but rather are caused by the ELO system. For whatever reason, people just don't get away with poptarting in most of the games I play. Soon as they pop up, they get focused fired by multiple mechs and die quickly.

BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!
Mind you, not that it CAN'T be done. Just that other chassis, notably the Highlander, does it better.
To my mind, the Victor is always gonna be a supersized Centurion on a Pogostick. Means lots of movement and flanking. Now maybe my view of "poptarts" is narrow, but I generally think of the static snorefests we had pre JJ-Shake.

I tend to think pop-tarts are more strategic mechs that can safely snipe with some modicum of skill, the problem I see with the Highlander is whilst it can deliver a larger alpha falls far short of mobility, and speed to reposition itself into more advantageous locations to continue the chain of attack. The Phract 3D does alleviate the problem but it's downfall becomes some minor amour loss and substantial hitboxes.
Afterall we have to keep variants fresh! Even thinking of making some sort of LRM boat out of one, one of these days...

Running the DS with gauss / lrma10 (x2) / 3 med lasers with quite some success (xl330)

Generally speaking they die last and with pathetic effect on the battle.
Good to see an example of how-to rather than how-not-to.

I actually ran that, but that is how I leveled my Highlanders during pop-tart hell, Guass, 3ML, 2 ALRM15's. Was very successful, just the Victor couldn't stand the slug out.

Yea I needed something different from my brawlers, and LRM's on the Victor ain't as great as they are on the Highlander. Still need to make a purpose for a chassis, after all I haven't seen Phract 3D's on the field for awhile (if I did they were Std Engine pop-tart's).
