out of all the mechs i have, this ones right torso gets destroyed immediately constantly. since the most powerful weapons usually go there, its a big disadvantage to running this mech. the hunch should protrude out the back and slightly up, not out of the shoulder and slightly back. or if that was actually being designed for production, it would have more armor in the torsos. either fix should work.

The Hunchback doesn't need fixing. She's beautiful the was she is. Learn to protect your hunch, torso twist and be an opportunist. Only brawl against other mediums. My 4G is still my favorite mech. AC20 FTW!

I find it funny when hunches twist thinking it helps them.
You can shoot the Right torso on the G from any angle, only slightly more difficult. H, J, and P have slightly smaller hunches that don't stick out in front as much, but it's still possible.

My impression(/experience) was always that while twisting doesn't put the hunch out of striking angle, it's helpful in that since the hunch is so far off the fulcrum, shots will usually miss it if you're doing it well and often. And since sans the 4P your shoulder has ballistics or missiles, you can twist fairly freely once you've squeezed off your shot.
That said I'm not a Hunchie fan either way, but I've found that twisting helps. Just not in that it makes the hunch un-shootable.

Hunches are built like that by design and always have been haha, it's what makes them so cool.
If you want a balanced Medium, get a centurion or something, of course people are going to target the bulk of your weapons first!
No-one ever said all the mechs in this game will be evenly matched though. Some of them have inherent design flaws like this. It's part of the fun, and some Chassis do become superior or inferior at certain things therefore.

Nah, I pilot a Hunchback 4P and 4G and I am fine with the torso profile. It does suck, but then again, that is part of the quirk of the chassis. It's high risk/reward of the chassis.
The 4P is one of two MLasers boats (and the only Medium to mount 9 Lasers) and to accomplish this, you have to risk loosing your side torso.
Similar with the 4G with it's Ballistic. It's just the way it is. If you have a torso mounted ballistic (torso has more armor than an arm), you have to have a larger torso.
P.S. My friends and I have been playing Battletech TT here and there (we are pretty amature, so we play more basic rules), and everytime we run a Hunchback (twice so far), we loose the side torso first also. It's weird because it all comes down to dice rolls (shape of mech plays no part in hit detection), yet STILL that torso gets destroyed LOL.

Without the hunch what would that mech be, just a generic humanoid, that's a classic feature of the mech that cries out "I can haz dakka"
