Please let there be support for ladder leagues in the near future after release. I myself have no desire to play in a frustrating and unorganized random player pug. Meaning I don't want to be killed 5 minutes into a game because everyone is doing their own thing. Nor do I want to get totally immersed in the meta-game. I just want to come online and play fun league games with my friends as a team just like every other previous release of the series.

Which brings me to another thought. How are we suppose to practice as units for the meta-game? I can remember spending hours with teammates walking maps and testing each area for shot distance between hills, flank areas, etc... The way i see it setup now the only private unit training aspects will have to happen during battle.

You want leagues kind of like Starcraft II? Oh please no, all that did was discriminate. If you were a bronze league player (lowest league) you were looked down upon as an inferior stricly because people interpreted it as "you haev no skils no0b, LOEL". Same thing but opposite effect on the different end of the spectrum; if you were in masters league (high league) or you were one of the two-hundred people in the world who could be a no-life highly developed grandmaster, you were praised like an ancient god, only because you lived in your parent's basement playing fourteen hours a day. Respectfully, I do not wish your idea to come into act.

This isn't a copy or clone of every craptastic previous release. Get ready for some meta-game and world conquering action.

If only they'd go the next step and make it a 4X MechWarrior simulation ...

So asking for a ladder isnt doing your own thing?

There's no reason there can't be both a competitive ladder and a normal ladder....

Apparently you did not read my whole post. Just how are we supposed to play alone with our friends?

I'm not sure where your going with this. There is very little difference between this and any other release since MW2. Last I checked it was a 3d video game right? Besides don't I have a right to voice my opinion without someone calling the games I enjoyed before craptastic? Im not belittling anything you want to do with this game. I was hoping for some options for those who do like league play.

This format doesn't support ladder leagues very well, unless there's something in the works to allow "private" servers that you can all join up at 8pm EST on IRC channel MWO then give the password out to all of the combatants and decide who will drop in the match.

Like the good old days.

There is no reason why you cant on your own, do your own thing.
Youll simply need to find 24 people who want to get together and train or spar.
And then come match day, all 24 from different units show up in the same room/group and then drop together

Just the ability to have private servers is enough for ladder support. I'm sure the people who want to run a league will put up some type of chat room to set up battles..etc. I've already seen previous league owners ask about it. Its not like i'm asking the impossible here.

This. I fondly remember this kind of stuff. Leagues are what kept MW4 going long past its expiration date. The psychology behind holding the number 1 spot on a ladder and exclusively holding territory in a meta-game is fundamentally the same. Whether one prefers ladder leagues over meta games (or likes them both equally) is ultimately just that, a matter of preference.

There won't be anything at launch, but at least they are looking into it. I think everybody who has ever been competitive recognizes the need for some type of private server play. But if this game isn't going to have that (other than when two teams match off in a 'PA'), then it will probably lose a good % of the more competitive crowd.

I'm not sure why Sleepy Head gets upset at the idea. Chess competitions haven't seemed to hurt the game of chess. I would love to see some type of an evo rating, and this coming into play in matchups, so that good players can more often play against good players. Ranked matches, etc

I read it just fine. Get some friends and play together. Unless you are in beta and are telling me something about the game I should not know, or you have come backward in time to tell me the future of the game, you cannot confirm to me that you are stuck playing alone. I would bet that when the game goes live you can jump in with a team ... if you have one. Maybe not 12 (then again, maybe 12), but I'd wager on 4 at least.

If people want a Solaris side game for e-Sport, whatever. As long as it doesn't influence the 'real' game. (Yep, I said it.) But, if the game is about planetary conquest then there's probably going to be meta-game. My 4X comment was to state there should be more meta-game, not less.

I'm sure that if you just want to play a couple of matches you'll be able to do that, just as I'm sure that the people who want to get deeper into the meta-game will have their opportunities. Do I know this for sure? Nope. Just basing it off of current info and wide-eyed speculation.

And yes, I do belittle people if that's how they take it. Else I'm simply giving my opinion and that's how you take it. :words:

You really don't see this happening in the meta-game either? Is there some balancing factor somewhere that negates pilot skills that I missed?

As for getting to know the maps - if open beta is just a playground and all stats get erased prior to launch;

It would be probable that there will be pre-made teams of 12 that drop at the same time in the hopes that they are matched up against each other. Both teams will call a truce and walk the map as well as practice mass movements, scout tactics, etc. Should this happen the teams that train together will be very close knit and a terror on the battlefield.
