IMHO, I think this game is getting stale. I'm still playing the same thing from back in december and nothing of the game play has changed. Sure you (PGI) did the following: buff some weapons here and there, add a new game type, added a few new maps, added a few new mechs, had a bunch of tourneys and sales, added new equipment and adjusted the way we play because of jump sniping and the wall climb, but for what? It's still the same and getting very boring fast.
I think for me, MW4 wasn't all too boring because there was at least several dozen game types to work from, but team battle and team destruction were most popular however that didn't even get boring because it was fun watching me makin ppl eat dirt, but more as a team doing so. Yes you can do it here, but on a limited basis.
One life games are getting old fast... sure it's reality(sorta), you only get one life so meh?
The 2 modes are also getting old fast and as fast as we see the same map being played often times at anywhere between 3 in a row to 8 in a row... does not make this game interesting at all.
IMHO PGI needs to add more modes in order to attract and keep their player database... because if this game opens officially ... whenever that might be or if... it will surely fail with only 2 modes. Sure you say CW is coming, i don't see it because all i see is all talk and no real proof, just "be patient and we'll surprise you one day" kinda mentaility does not work.... not really.
I had the idea of using missions as a new player mode, a lot like how single player works in MW3 + MW4, but I'd probably write a book on how to make it nice, maybe epic... This could work very well with good brainstorming...
I'd use missions based on levels you accomplish. If you die, start again, it'll give you some motivation to try harder to make it past that level onto the next hardest level. Of course it could be an individual requirement and a team requirement, just different levels of play in each one. Perhaps with an end in sight, but you gotta really work your way to the top... set a limit at say maybe level 99 or so... whichever...
It's just that... give us something challenging something that will encourage the will to keep playing this game, because i'm finding it harder to come here and play. Don't get me wrong, I like mechwarrior, always have since '98 and I really do miss the old days a lot. I'm still going to play this, that is till the candle runs out of wax... unless someone can find a way to make this better than it is now and I really don't think CW is much of an answer because you'd need much more than just CW and the upcoming clan invasion in order for this to succeed.
But hey, what do i know... i'm not a dev, just another face in the crowd. /shrug

My HOPE is that if when they release in September there is going to be "oodles" of content. Including new modes, maps, etc...

They have said that with CW will come at least one more mode--a non-parallel attack/defend mode. We'll see what that actually means and if there's anything else, but we should be getting at LEAST one more mode soon(ish).

Oooooooooo maybe objectives or in game PvP missions based in the universe, help flush out the lore in battletech for those new guys (like me). Oooooooorrrrrr maybe a conquest mode that u cap points to spawn NPCs to fight each other, like helicopters, tanks, and Lil footsoilders that u can crush under ur atlas' foot!!!! (Sound effects included)
*sigh ......a nerd can dream, can't he?

Considering how much CW and other core features have been delayed I will be surprised if we see new modes at "launch".
I would personally love to see a mode where you pick three mechs and when one gets destroyed you respawn in another. Combined with some interesting objectives I think that would be a lot of fun.

I'd love it if they added an "Eject Pilot" feature, so that if your pilot successfully escapes from your destroyed mech and survives, you could make a break on foot (or maybe even risk hitching a ride on a fellow pilot's mech, if that's not pushing things too far). If you arrive safely back to your team's base, you can pick another mech.
It's a bit unconventional for the series, but boy, that'd add a whole new dynamic altogether. Because, yeah, the one-life thing, while it adds to the challenge, it makes a slower more team-strategy-centered game like this very boring to sit through, and you want to do more than merely spectate. I think we can cater to realism while still catering to the fact that these are still video games--sometimes it's nice to shake things up a bit.
Also, I think it'd be a bit neat if we could have available (but limited) sprint boosters on the certain mech models' feet to quickly help briefly jet in one direction. Maybe the boosters could come at a cost of not having a certain weapon or contributing greatly to your heat damage, so you have to use them wisely. It takes all day to cross a terrain with anything but the light mechs. I think we could still have limited boosters and still keep the spirit of the game.
Just my personal opinion here, though.
