Ok, so the recent 'Ask the Devs' answers and all the responses with numbers being thrown around have me wondering about baseline stats for things.

Right now it seems like everything is kinda based on weapon damage, but which weapon in the system is the 'base' that doesn't change much? I think it is the medium laser, but I am not sure.

Also, is there a chassis that is the baseline model on which all other things are changed and balanced or is there not one at all?

I wonder this because of other games I have seen where they know they need a baseline to use to measure the effects of other races/classes/etc in the game that come in later.

I think with warhammer 40k it is the space marine, what is (if any) MWO's "space marine"?

The medium laser has gone through a few iterations, as it was the best bang-for-buck weapon in MWO, and TT as well TBH. In early closed beta, they were insane, and were thankfully nerfed somewhat.

The large laser would be pretty close in the current game clime to a baseline weapon... maybe. All the current talk of weapon balance kind of amuses me though. Clan ERMLAS do one less point of damage than a large laser, have similar range and weigh 1t. If there is a baseline PGI uses, I wonder if they are using clan tech, and... worrying... about the carnage.

Well assuming the baseline model a Space Marine from 40k being a good allrounder id say it has to probably be either a Hunchback or Jagermech..

On that basis then the Cicada is a Guardsman, the Stalker a frikkin Necron and the locust will be Gretchin!
