Yesterday I saw someone standing still in their 'mech at long range (presumably, an enemy due to lack of a triangle over their head). So I shot at it, it didn't move so I kept shooting it, noting a red hitmarker. Eventually they went down and I noticed that I actually got a teamkill.

Up until now having one random teamate not showing an icon when they were behind something wasn't a big deal to me.

On a side note I suggest that the hitmarker color should show a different color if you hit a friendly.

This issue is actually tied to the "my teammate is treated as an enemy because of LOS" issue.

Occasionally, if you look away at some of your teammates, you may see them disappear off your radar, even though LOS should not be a factor in how you detect teammates.

That is what you are experiencing.

Could be that the pilot had deliberately powered down. Either shutdown by heat or personal choice will remove the identifying icon on the HUD. The BAP should, when you're within range, allow for lock-on even on a shutdown mech.

Either dc'd or powered down, I would think, as it sounds like they didn't even move after getting pounded for a bit. Hopefully you weren't using Advanced Zoom...the friendly/enemy markers get mixed up or are missing entirely when using it.

I'm aware that the bug has been present for the last few patches (maybe longer?). Also, I seem to recall that even powered down friendlies would still have an icon over their head, I'm almost certain I've seen shut down friendlies with icons.

Also, I was not using advanced zoom. I won't be unlocking that until it's either made into a third zoom level or it somehow overcomes the CryEngine limitations.

I still say that this would at least be partially avoided by having friendlies have a non-red hitmarker when shot.

This is a bug...
In the past it would happen especially when you are zoomed. If you unzoom the Ally indicator would come back...
I remember seeing it happen in one of NGNG/IGP streams many months back.

A few week back... Same thing happened to me.. AC2ed a friendly DDC in back because there was no indicator at all.

Was playing MW4 a bit the other day, and saw what they did to resolve friendly vs enemy targetting...for friendlies you had a blue X over the mech if you pointed your reticle at them, and enemies had a red square highlight around them. Would be nice to have something more definitive than the tiny little triangles overhead.
