I just bought a Corsair m90.
It doesn't come with the drivers so I went to DL the latest drivers.
I installed them, rebooted my computer then opened up MWO excited as all get out to waste a few bother mech warriors.
I started a test match and went into the game configuration.
Next I went to map my buttons.
I could only map my mouse 1, 2 and scroll wheel the rest of the buttons wouldn't even register that I was clicking them!?!?!?!.
The M90 has 13 programable buttons, so I got mad (lol) and returned it.

What was I doing wrong? (dur fek!!!)

Is there some script for MWO I have to add for this mouse to work?

I am a lefty so half of the buttons, the M90 has, I wouldn't have been able to use anyway.
Which brings me to my latest state of drama....

I am thinking of getting either the lefty Death Adder, The logitect ambo G3, the G500 from logitect or phunk it I'll teach my right hand to mouse and buy a Rat 5.

When I do finally settle on a mouse will I run into the same problem with the programing of the buttons?
Do I program them in game and out of game I mean how does it work. :(

I don't know about corsair, but there are issues with logitech mice and the "extra" buttons (eg the side buttons).
By default they are mapped to functions like "Browser Back" and "Browser Forward". You have to map them to "Generic Button" before MWO recognizes them.
I can very much recommend the Logitech G700s.
Be wary of the G700 though - it has a slight fault in that the G10 button tends to stick down, draining the battery also.
However, when I called logitech and reported such, they immediately offered to swap mine out for a G700s with no questions asked. The G700 is selling off cheap now, so if you can't quite afford a G700s, then that may be a cheap way to get one.

Then should I map all the buttons to "Generic Button"? I think the 500 and the 700 are the same except the 700 is wireless and the 500 has a cord.

What I said applies to all Logitech mice.

The G500 has 3 less buttons (1 less below wheel, 1 less next to LMB, 1 less on side)
The G700 is also wired or wireless. It comes with a USB cable that makes it work as a wired mouse plus charges the battery.

The wireless on the G700 is also very good - you get the same response time as you do with wired so there really is no benefit with wired any more.

The coatings on both mice really are excellent as well - different parts of the mouse are coated with different finishes, eg hydrophobic on the palm area to stop sweat making mouse slippery, rough coating where you grip it...

Personally I would say the G700 is better for MWO since there are more buttons, plus the shaping of them makes it much easier to tell by feel which button your finger is on. With the number of weapon groups and other controls in MWO, I cannot urge you enough to go for the 700 over the 500.

Here is my setup for the G700:
Wheel Left/Right : View modes
Wheel Up/Down: Zoom / Adv Zoom
3 buttons near LMB: Weapon grps 3-5
G11 (Just behind mouse wheel mode button): Missile bay doors
4 side buttons: Target / Map / Show names / Center Torso

As you can see, this puts 99% of the controls you will need regularly on the right hand, leaving your left hand free for movement plus JJ with the thumb and Ctrl/Shift with your pinky. Any less buttons on the mouse and you would need to move your left fingers off the WSAD keys during combat and lose control of your lower body temporarily.

The only slight downside of Logitech mice is that they do not allow binding of wheel up / down, but that can easily be solved using an Autohotkey macro.

So I went back to the M90 and found that 7 buttons out of the 13 work in Mechwarrior.
Some buttons don't registrar a click even though a keystroke is assigned to it.
IE. Keystroke b is assigned to button 4, button 4 will not register in MWO but in other applications depressing the 4 button types a b.
MWO is acting like no mouse button is being clicked. Is there any way to get MWO to see the other buttons?

When in MWO, open the chat box (T) and hit your mouse buttons - do you see the desired key being typed? (Chat box does not work in training grounds)

If so, the reason this is happening is because the mouse software is not holding the button down for 50ms - it is sending a down and then an up straight away.

All I can say is....wait for the new Razer Naga Elite 2013. It's going to be available for left handed gamers, full 12 mechanical buttons under the thumb that default to the number keys along the top of the keyboard, tilt click scroll wheel so two extra buttons right on the scroll wheel, browser forward and back buttons that can be remapped to whatever you want via synapse 2.0. An absolutely excellent mouse that you can easily program to handle almost every command in MWO from one hand.

IMHO 12 on the side and not many buttons on the top is not right for MWO - it's more an MMO thing.

Personally, for multiple "Fire" buttons, I find that you want more on the top - firing with the thumb just feels wrong.

This is why I prefer the G700 - 4 on the side, plus 4 on the top (Plus your usual 3 buttons, plus tilt wheel)
Plus the G700 has ratchet / free wheel mouse (Free spinning is much nicer out of game), which I believe is unique to logitech.

I don't think you will be able to program more then 5 buttons.
I think MWO only recognizes 5 mice bindings, I am going through this right now with the 13button M90. All 13 buttons work great in Notepad, Windows and other programs, only 5 buttons work in MWO.
