I have been thinking about the concept of creating your own weapon parameters / armor, engine, etc etc.

Where everything has a base value.

example: S x T x H x D = cost

Slots X - 1
Tonnage X - 1
Heat X- 1
Damage X - 1

Cost = 4

......

Lets say a player want to double the strength a weapon to use on his/her mech to fill a slot

S X x2 - 2
T X x2 - 2
H X x2 - 2
D X x2 - 2

Cost = 16

Everything doubles in size for the cheapest and simplest way for that player to achieve that

....

Because we are talking about weapons Damage is the primary factor, because I haven't over thought this completely and I want to go to bed I'm going to keep it simple.

For every Damage everything else must coincide

D1 = 1 = 1 = 1

so to lower one of the factors to say half doubles its value, for every multiple times the sub factor goes into the Primary multiples the price.

Dx2 = 2
x2 =2
x2 =2
x2 =2

Cost =16 .... DxSxTxH=C

D x2 = 2
x1 = 4
x2 = 2
x2 = 2

Cost = 32

Exceeding the primary factor could decrease the value, although i doubt anyone would implement that.
..........

Now before everyone shouts out about the spiralling amount of damage people will start to take, I was a huge fan of Chrome Hounds. I loved the cost equations, every thing damaged and spent needed to be replaced. If a player tanks his unit for it only to be destroyed, he must replace it. and every multiplayer game has an X value for a win.

I think it could add more to the game, far more variety and playability. Players could use this to benefit faction/ clan games etc, adding more to the table.

Its just a thought and I would like some feed back. I like to think it won't complicate too much in game with all the different values and properties.
