If we are sticking to a 1:1 system many mechs wont be seen for 10+ years. will there be small jumps in time to bring these mechs in faster or will cannon be removed for the sake of the game, It seems the most simplest solution would be to do a dew months jump in the time line every now and again, do a small write up in the news of what has transpired in that time and move on. Other wise some of these mechs eg Templar will be years and years away....
thoughts? oh on a slighty different note a few of us got chatting over a game of mwo and we thought a quirk for the awesomes would be that they can carry 3 ppcs/erppc before heat penalty kicked in.
sorry if this has all been brought up before my search fu is weak

The devs have stated they may jump timelines eventually, to include different Era's.
There is literally a treasure trove of content and money they can make from doing so, since there is so much stuff in Battle Tech.

I can stop you right there. We aren't sticking to a 1:1 system, otherwise the Clans would have been here long ago.
It was a dumb idea to begin with that made me raise an eyebrow in regards to PGI's decisionmaking. If I knew then what I know now...

It's fine. They have mentioned that a 1:1 is not on the table for now. Which I personally think is fine. Let's get the core game to a stable state, balanced, and including everything we want pre-Clans. Let it soak for a while for the players while the developers determine what is the next phase.
Once everyone feels they are ready, then we begin the next phase, which is the Clan invasion.
I think the most important thing, regarding the timeline, is to just freeze it for a while until we get into a good rhythm.

Oh I agree that being off of the 1:1 time scale is totally fine. I don't think we should have ever been on it. It's a ridiculous idea that was doomed to fail.
Basing a real-world company's production timeline off of what it says in a series of books written in the 80's about a tabletop game was such a ridiculous idea when they proposed it that I was wondering about them even back then.

Well, at the end of the day they can always stack up enough money and develop MWO2.
Now they're just knee-deep tying all the stitches together.

The earlier era we're limited to, the better.
BTech was designed as a millitary wargame... the tech in it always gets more lethal and definitely isn't balanced with it's predecessor for any silly reason just like bow and arrow is less lethal and unbalanced compared to M14.
It is easier to balance bows, swords and pikes than to balance all the firearms from all the countries in the world today... and also those antique weapons.

I am no so sure I want any timeline jumps. I can do without the crazy mechs from later years. Especially the really recent stuff.
