you should shift some armor from the back of your ct to the front. you will die a lot more to the front going out than your back.

Ok, I have a new favorite DDC build:

Jiggly's new favorite.

Doesn't look like much, but works really well in the current meta and my playing style.

Disclaimer: armor distribution may not reflect actual usage! :)

I've ran about 15 radically different builds on my DDC and I'm really sold on the dual Ultra AC/5s with a strong SRM suite. It gives you nice mid-range damage and, if you're cannons aren't jamming a lot, you really hit hard up close. Doesn't make for the greatest alpha, but it makes your mech much more responsive and allows you to pump out some nice suppression fire.

Here's my primary electronics warfare D-DC:

Gauss + AC/5 = Double ranged AC/20 with better heat efficiency and higher DPS. It is fragile, though, so CASE is required to keep the rifle from coring your own CT if it gets popped. I went with Streak-2s instead of SRM-4s to keep heat and ammo expenditures under control. Even so, the lasers have to be used judiciously to avoid catastrophic heat problems, especially on warmer maps.

AC20/SRM18+A/2xMdLas/STD350 all the way. I keep trying other loadouts but I always come back to that one.

This is what I run, too.

Updated my build:

Jiggly's improved meta *****

This works best for supporting the team. The addition of AMS to the ECM suit helps cover team mates from LRM fire. The large engine gives you great torso twist and enough speed to keep up with the lighter assaults and heavies. You can shoot and scoot pretty well over most terrains.... and you pretty much have to.

Toe to toe fights against other Atlases are possible if you make use of the longer range, aim carefully at their CT. It helps in those types of fights to pace your shots so that the enemy is hit either by a Gauss bolt or a PPC shot every few seconds. It also helps greatly to shoot to the face.
