Wait... active? You have 20 posts, how are you active, what because you 'were' a game dev? What game did you develop?

I think the random works well, you have a bunch of players who are new to MW, have not played in years, vets, etc. It might not be 100% random, they might also be trying to get min and recommended system requirements as well.

Linked in profile you'll find your answers there

And just cause i posted something does not mean i am including myself.
I am a lurker and a avid bt fan, but when i say active i mean the community members who signed up right at start and are active on the forums I only qualify for one. Ive sat and waited silently. But the guys that are very active should have been in by now.

just out of curiosity, if you DO somehow get the beta invite, does your status change automatically or do you get an email with a code you have to imput? I ask so i can stop checking my email every 10 minutes.

The one your looking for is Age of darkness which was canceled due to funding. And DCS is a MMORPG framework that has over 100k users (creators) which unfortunately the x wife got in the divorce.

Any more questions?

Well there is the whole deal of the NDA, probably a number of the active people in the community are in the Beta and cannot say due to NDA violations, if they are telling people they are in, they just violated the NDA.

But most will not be replying darn i did not get in. etc etc. It bugs me when i see active members who are not in.
Mainly just shows a flaw in the process as this seems like a play-testing thing not a beta. A ton of companies are guilty of this treating beta as a preview or means to get pre-orders etc.

Almost every company I've worked with has done it that way, the only one that didn't is the one that couldn't afford professional testing so we let our more dedicated fans in as actual testers. I've always preferred people that are actually interested in testing the game over people who just want an early demo.

Its been a while like that.. I think DAOC was the last one to do actual real beta. Eq2 when i was in Friends and family. But beta seemed more like a preview. eq1 did it properly also. seems like the wow erra + it became preview and hype and as of rift became pay to preview.

Still no luck for me. One of my friends got in, though. I told him the closed beta was about to start, he registered, and got in on the first round.

Ability to post 1,000 fanboi-ish posts on a forum is not evidence of an active player, nor is it evidence of someone's ability to playtest a game and give back valid feedback.

Last thing I want to see is a game go down in flames because the playtest group were a bunch of yes-man fanbois who could never look at the game critically, understand how it worked, understand how to break it, and give good, solid feedback to developers who would take it to heart and actually fix what needs fixing.

In other words... whether I get in or not I have but one request for the developers and that's this, please don't Turbine this game.

I mentioned that same point based of off my system specs located in my CPU-Z and I'm stunned.

Friends of a friend beta it seems.

Just to put you out of your misery... the keys go out within about 1-2hrs of me kicking the server.

There must be a problem then. Its been more than 6 hours and I've yet to receive my key ;)
