So, apparently PGI thinks their heat scale is effective for anti boating. Really tho we just got bored of em. I officially declare a call to action to any and all player who hate Paul's heat system. Its time to boat ppcs/gauss etf like there is no tomorrow. Bring your stalkers, your highlanders, your atlases and your cataphracts. Lets have a good time.

Notice I left out the awesome because it sucks.

I like the new heat system and cant wait to see more improvements to it...
I always thought that overheating your mech had surprisingly little downside, you are after all overheating a fusion generator...
now we need them to add in large explosions when your mech is destroyed :)

I would also like to see more config options, like setting your mech to shutdown at 90% heat instead of 100%, and a heat meter that goes beyond 100%, like say to 125%

maybe even add a health meter to your pilot so that if you stay hot for too long your pilot starts to take damage due to heat exposure
in the novels a guy could cook in his cockpit before he overheated the mech in some situations!

IMHO, the heat changes are a bit "artificial". Yes, they do make sense, firing all your weapons at once shouldn't be a basic tactic, but:
- Some of the more iconic mechs from BattleTech lore are, in fact, boats.
- Adding "realistic" inhibiting factors (or ones implemented in the tabletop version) would have (possibly) been a better way to go), to name a few:
heat decreases accuracy, recoil, crosshair movement (at least when the mech isn't stationary and the Mech's computers haven't had time to compensate), hardpoint size restrictions (MW 4 style) etc.

This way they did add a bit too much behind-the-scenes math and usually that's not a very good way to go if it can be avoided.

However, I'm on board. We still have a mechlab and many possibilities in building loadouts. Also forcing ppl to chainfire might end up making the game more fun. Let's wait and see. No use getting pissed about it. The essential MW elements are still all here (mechlab, big robots, big gunz). These are just in the end minor changes. MW 3 and 4 had significantly different heat mechanics and weapon balance. That didn't stop me from having fun with both. :)

The system is not complete until PPC's get +1 heat.

Then I will judge the changes fully.
