IMHO, the heat changes are a bit "artificial". Yes, they do make sense, firing all your weapons at once shouldn't be a basic tactic, but:
- Some of the more iconic mechs from BattleTech lore are, in fact, boats.
- Adding "realistic" inhibiting factors (or ones implemented in the tabletop version) would have (possibly) been a better way to go), to name a few:
heat decreases accuracy, recoil, crosshair movement (at least when the mech isn't stationary and the Mech's computers haven't had time to compensate), hardpoint size restrictions (MW 4 style) etc.
This way they did add a bit too much behind-the-scenes math and usually that's not a very good way to go if it can be avoided.
However, I'm on board. We still have a mechlab and many possibilities in building loadouts. Also forcing ppl to chainfire might end up making the game more fun. Let's wait and see. No use getting pissed about it. The essential MW elements are still all here (mechlab, big robots, big gunz). These are just in the end minor changes. MW 3 and 4 had significantly different heat mechanics and weapon balance. That didn't stop me from having fun with both.
