One last word from me on this issue:

This confirmation for my system to play MW:O, with an AMD/Avast configuration, does not let PGI off the hook. They still have to fix the issue, especially if there are others with the same problem but with different configurations.

While I am glad the workaround will not open my computer to threats, this really is unconscionable for a business to do - leave customers hanging about the one possible workaround that they could endorse for people who subscribe to Avast. I have no issues with IGP's rep Reppu (who was assisting me in this matter), considering he passes on issues to the PGI staff who is supposed to remediate player's game software issues. This perceived lack of interest on PGI's part to follow through is emblematic of their business model - get the money's and new players by providing a passable product with lots of distractions directing attention away from the games flaws.

Just got word from an Avast customer support rep.

Unchecking "enable hardware-assisted virtualization" in Avast Antivirus products will NOT compromise my computer's security.

So, Uncheck that option in the troubleshooting section of "Settings", then restart your computer. You should be able to play the game. I have and I have had no issues yet.

Why PGI did not verify the option with Avast to begin with instead of waiting all this time for me to do it myself is beyond me. But, then again, I'm just one customer and my loss would be insignificant to the bottom line.

So my computer won't be vulnerable? I'm still reluctant to do it, in the meantime I'll research on what the sandbox does exactly. I haven't played Mech Warrior in almost a month, so I'm getting a ton of withdrawal. I'm going to force myself to uncheck the hardware assistance.

im still waiting for the Devs to do something. until then i'm actively boycotting this game. and any potential players who have asked me about MWO have been told its not worth the time due to lack of a development team. so even more players that im sure they would love to have aren't downloading this game

Has anyone heard of a real fix for this? All I've gotten is to uninstall my antivirus. We're going into week 4 now.

do what I did and ask Avast customer support.

I don't have Avast or and AMD. I use ESET NOD32 and an Intel processor. Any ideas for those?

Sandbox is a contained emulated hardware enviroment that dubious files and applications can be ran in and their nature analysed without risk to the system because the file will have no true access to the hardware or file structure of the system. Without hardware virtualization Sandbox cannot completely isolate the suspicious file and thus running such files in the Sandbox becomes more risky.

So there is no word at all on when this might get fixed? I'm sick of sitting through patch after patch and not being able to play.

1) Submit a ticket to PGI's customer service;
2) go to this thread, post your details there as indicated: http://mwomercs.com/...ment-read-here/;
3) contact the NOD32 customer service and let them know what your issue is. They will ask for some system details like OS and and other AV or anti-spy/malware you have;
4) have others with similar game not playing issues do the same.

turn off Enable hardware-assisted virtualization

http://gyazo.com/058...770d72e596df36a

a power fix for now you don't have too get rid of avast just turn it off and restart

try it you be kicking yourself if you didn't try this and can't uninstall avast cus there is no better AV

for those that cry about sandbox do you even use it, it wont stop the av from working right and the only reson i use avast is for the unstopable boottime scan lol

I like my workaround better. Uninstall MWO and play something else until you fix this.

^ This. Sorry, but if I have to choose between MWO and antivirus, MWO loses every time.

Almost every single day.

One month later, two major patches later, three hot fixes later and still no resolution to your conflict issue on this. So much for being a 'priority issue' huh? Pretty much called it as soon as someone found a band aid work around you stopped caring.

But doesn't really matter anyway since my lance buddies all quit playing because of apparently how bad this 3rd person view is.

This is almost laughable, that these people at PGI would let this roll for so long. Note guys, keyword ALMOST.

I'm not laughing. I have the AMD+Avast combo, and am NOT affected by it, but man alive, I'd be severely ticked if these clowns were dragging their feet on an issue like this.

I'm actually ticked FOR you guys.......

ONE MONTH. ONE MONTH and no response. this is a call out to the devs. how are you progressing on this all so important to you issue? lets hear what you have to say.

everyone else concerned with this issue please quote this post and repost in this thread to maybe increase the chances of the devs stumbling upon this question. perhaps we will get a response.

THE BOYCOTT CONTINUES, i intend to formally request a refund of my founders package if my question is not answered seeing as i cant even play MWO why in the world would i humor them having my money

Honestly this is {Scrap} its been just over a month and nothing no response at all since a work around was found we shouldn't have to use a work around and possibly leave our systems more vulnerable than they already are. I actually agree with Kott I seriously consider asking for my founders money back and ask why did I give these guys money in the first place. Only answer I come up with is because I love MechWarrior I grew up with it.

Wow that's quite the language filter they have on this site I can't even say c rap. anyone else notice how the site goes down rather often. looks like the site needs work as much as the game I mean half the time I try to come to the site its not working.

I think people should keep in mind that this is an issue with AVAST and not mwo. This problem exists in many games not just mwo. What this means is that pgi has very little they can do to fix this.

This may or may not help. But if you have access to your router you could try increasing the amount of packet data your router will accept before activating the DDos security feature all routers have.

Might want to stop before your entire face is brown. PGI released an update that caused this issue. Avast did not. MWO is the only title out of the 42 titles I have installed through steam and 30 titles installed outside of steam plus the other 115 programs on my network to have ever had or still be experiencing this issue.

Please read and research before committing to brown nosing.

This issue has all but killed my intention to try MWO as after installing this is what I get and after witnessing the awful support giving will not be coming back to try again. I wonder how many other potential new players/customers have been lost due to this!

There were 2 workarounds provided, one of which doesn't require you to remove Avast. Is it that some of you aren't even attempting these workarounds?

Defects are NOT an easy thing to just find and fix. The fact that proven workarounds have been provided shows that they have indeed been working on the issue. It seems like the popular option is to spite PGI at this point in time even when attempts to help have been made, and that's more than a little unfortunate.

If they had provided the workarounds rather than the community you would have had a valid point but they didn't!
