I think that there is a serious problem with large maps, capping is way to easy and this is affecting negatively the gameplay.

What about making the cap speed proportional to the capping mechs weight? lets assume that one Atlas (100tons) can cap at about the current speed, a Jenner would cap at about 1/3 of that speed, this would preserve the cap-based gameplay but would give more time in case of cap rush.

Well, its a reason to play more Assault-Mechs.
That's exactly what MWO needs.... not.

And stuff a big XL Engine in an Awesome or Victor and you get the ultimative Mech for capping - fast and a lot of tonnage.

At the moment light Mechs have one benefit:
If your side is decimated you have the option to run and cap.
The other side may try to cap more or to hunt you down with other fast Mechs.
The other side does not have fast Mechs because everyone plays an Assault ? Well, bad luck for them.

If a Mech class get's a bonus for capping this bonus should got to Medium and Heavy Mechs, and should be connected to their armament.
Because Mechs that drop every weapon to only fit in two PPCs and a large XL Engine should not also get a bonus for capping.
