I'm kinda thinking of path of exile for this one.

1440 minutes in a day. Give out 1 key every 20 minutes. That's 72 keys a day. 360 keys every week.
1440 keys a month. It would give a slow, constant progression towards maxing out a beta cap. And since open beta starts next month with operation inception. You would still have enough control to invite more players before then.

1486582 member registered. Minus the ~2500 invited already 1484082 total members.
Daily each member with have a .00485148395% chance of getting in daily.

Edit: woops. This probably needs to be moved.

Do you realize the insanity that would ensue if a key was released every 20 minutes?

Site traffic would quadruple and people would go crazy checking their computers every 20 minutes.

They already had to amend the site for F5 zombies...such a feature would spawn a whole new outbreak!

And we simply can't have that

Works for path of exile. And they don't even have 1/4th the resources PGI does.

Also, the RELEASE is apparently next month, not open beta. People who buy a founder's package get "Early access to the game along with Founder's assets availability starts July 17th."

I'm not sure about that. The way I read it, Founders will gain access to the Closed Beta (not publicly accessible yet). We just don't know for how long.

I read in another thread that there will be no more wipes after July 17, hence why the founder's pack stuff kicks in. There may be some final patching/tweaks, but no normal beta wipes. So although it may still be "beta", it may as well be release, as the game should be in a reasonably playable/stable state by then. I just wish they'd come out with some system specs already.

Just out of curiosity, how well are the game servers holding up to the increased traffic.
