Dear devs,

I REALLY do love everything thus far, but I sure would like a real sexy scouting mech that just, well needs some love... The OSTScout (see my attempt at bringing sexy back, below)

Edit: Sorry about the crappy photo quality I took the picture on my phone...

I hardly doubt many people would like to play an unarmed mech.

If you ask the Lyran's the Atlas makes a great scout mech

As a scout (Roll specific statement implies that I know atleast 1 other person there, a Catapult etc...), I would swap an extra laser and SRMs more speed, jumpjets and extra good looks (Battlepod for the win) (and more armor? don't remember) any day of the week.

With the jenner having JJs and extra guns I'd be too tempted to pick a fight (see most recent screenshot) with out those I would chalk the mech up to silly and near pointes (example above being the raven and the commando is not much better). If I am scouting, then my job is 1 being bionoculars, 2 clean up support/opportunist.

Honestly I like the line up of mech a lot, I just have soft spot for the battle pods and that (above sketch) is a far enough deviation that it would be safe for use.

Edit: that implies that I would pilot this. It would be like taking the tackle role in EVE, man it can suck, but sure is handy

Ostscout is by far one of the ugliest mechs out there, I seriously doubt that even FD can redesign it to be tolerable. Also this:

My suggestion is to take the Jenner and remod it to the loadout of what a OSTscout would carry in MWO, they are both 35 tons mechs. Active Probe, ECM, TAG, 1 Medium Laser, 12 run, 8 jump, maybe NARC, using endo Steel, FF and xl engines, Max armor. Try that out in battle then tweak. If i was going to be a Scout this would be a good but expensive loadout.

OSTScout is Unseen (copied from Robotech animes)

Original OSTscout BT 35 ton mech was; supposed to have awesome sensors / communications / tnt systems but nothing with BT game value.
8 walk 12 run 8 jump / 1 medium laser and 4 tons of jumpjets / wearing 4.5 tons of standard armor.

I agree with Rodney28021... take a Jenner, tweak it to be kind of like the OstScout, and test it in the field. I think you'll find it's more of a pain than it's worth, but I may be wrong. Still, good drawings you posted up there! =)

its not unarmed... it has a single laser but really... why would we want this unseen mech when the raven is a far superior scout mech with all its electronics

note the sketch uses the original battle pod as the inspiration not the redraw/reseen. the 'robotech' mechs, like the rest of the unseen had this bad habit of being really pretty.

After a weekend of thinking about it I guess me issue is that I want a raven, with jumpjets, even at the expense of firepower. Every scout should have JJ's, period. Unfortunatel the capellans almost got the idea but dropped the expencive computers for machine guns (Raven RVN-4X being the only one with JJ's but having no Intel systems). I have no problem playing a game with little to no guns, I played Logi from time to time in EVE and had a blast just running the BFmultiplier positions. The OstScout is a raven, with less guns, more base speed, and jumpjets. the key ingredient's for my spec in this role are 1 the intel capability (jenner is lacking this according to Sarna) and 2 Mobility (Speed and JJ's, where the raven is behind the Ost). beyond that if you completely ignore the rubbish for the reseen and re-reseen them taking a must stronger influence from the original sources (see sketch) you have something that is actually pretty appealing (atleast I think so, but I may be bias).

And to the "No one would go into combat that unarmed" comment, I'd swap the 1 ML for a TAG or a narc if it was worth while.

Personally I love this 'Mech.

A better picture for those interested. - http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Ostscout

Raven (RVN-3L) + Ostscout (OTT-9CS) in the 'Mech Hanger = a very happy Insanity.
