Neither can you target them.

But you are able to see where they are without exposing yourself to fire

You guys are arguing it both ways. You both have the chance to know where the other is. Its like they have ecm so you have to actually spot them. You have a blinking red light. Even if you turn it off afterwards they know where you are. As soon as you pop around the corner you are getting smacked.

The screengrabs from Caustic demonstrate how significantly this is going to affect the game.

Seismic let us see through nearby terrain. Now F4 enables us to see over terrain to distant objects, too.

MechAssault here we come.

You can't target them either. Plus they all have ppc's remember, they don't need to target you.

If even half the people on these forums leave over this then the forums will vastly improve, and no one will notice their loss in game.

For your sake, I hope you are right. That would mean the massive influx of new players would supplant the players who left (that we KNOW supported the game monetarily).

Unfortunately, the types of player 3PV promises to attract are not well known for spending much money on games, nor sticking with games when the next big thing comes out.

And again, so do they. I, imagine that is the intended purpose of that "You are here" sign floating over your head. They also have the ability to use seismic and see targeting information from others on their team while you can't.

Assuming they are looking in your direction for the 3 seconds you have it activated. If not = advantage you, if so = move, rinse, repeat.

Line of sight has much more range than seismic. Seismic costs a module slot, and will most likely be nerfed.

Right, I get that, but you missed the point... The point is you can spot for your team over a hill without exposing yourself to be shot at. Who cares if they can see where you are? They can't do anything about it.

Sometimes it's a case of both. Having playing 1PV our entire MWO lives we have no visual lexicon, no adaptive cues to understand readily, immediately that blinky red thing over the hill = dude who hit F4. Conversely if PGI foresees that the current playerbase will not be able to provide enough revenue to keep the company solvent then they, too, have to adapt their lexicon in order to converse with a larger customer base. I'd much prefer to have an MWO game (with 'hardcore mode' to boot for those 1PV purists) than no MWO game at all.

Many paths branch and evolve, to what end and purpose remain to be seen, but thankfully it's almost never a pure black or white situation to resolve out of. Me, I'm willing to give PGI leniency because the hours of entertainment per dollar spent is one of the highest I've personally experienced, it's up there with WoW and Monster Hunter 2G on the PSP.

Good points and good name drops for the other games ;), but the problem is once the paying players leave and the game is sinking there is nothing that will bring those players back. Like evolution they get one kick at the cat however this time I think they kicked a sleeping tiger and are about to lose their leg for it. How big a loss can they handle before they are in critical condition? 25%, 15? I think it's much closer to 10% and maybe a little less than that. Call it a gut feeling.

Perhaps this will be a lesson learned for the next adaptation of this game, where the playerbase/testers will demand a clearly set out document that lists the intention of the game company that way no one can say that they didn't know what they were getting and the game company can pull fast little switches mid stream and later claim that was how it was all along. I was a closed beta tester from the third round of invites, prefounders packages and really liked and had faith in what I saw then, lately though things have been quite a let down.

It seems like we are all going round-and-round.

You can see them, but they can't see you, but they can see where you are at, but they can't see where you are going, but you can see them. ad nauseam

Ok MY turn...

First off make the new code available two days in advance and tell us..*face palm* the patcher is painfully slow so we are not all trying to update at the same time an hour before or in my case 30 minutes into the test..

ok the not so nitty gritty as after the update I had time for a whole two matches...see above why..

pluses...you can see the back of your mech um.. party time ..

Hours an hours of developement time have in my opinion been wasted on 3PV the premesis for adding it was to make the game eaiser to learn for new players they could see legs etc... um no...its far far worse.. its more confusing I went back into 1PV just to work out which way I was facing..

People that have been bitching about this well you wasted time and effort just like I did in opposing it, frankly its a joke, of which will never be addmitted because of ego and not wanting to admit they right royaly screwed up in developing this..

I say bring it on devs watch the hard liners fall away from this game and not be replaced by those you think will find this game more enjoyable.

I'd laugh at this, but for the sense of the money I have I have suppose wasted because honestly I think with the 'brains in charge' MWO will have to reduce staff in the next 12 months and alot of features that are supposed to be comming will be further delayed, I see this title sold sometime in 2015/16, maybe even closed with the enlightend planning, it seems to 'enjoy'

I'll still be here when the doors close as I was one of BT's first fans and while i'm not rabid about the title like some, I support it despite whats happening to it,with my money and I suppose I will continue until its not possible to log in anymore

But that's good. We need more scouting tools. And if they DO see your big neon flashing light, they can tell their team where their spotter is located.

Evens out to me.

I haven't seen it yet but it sounds like scouts will have a huge advantage especially from the Pre-Made comms point. Being able to witness 2 mechs by hill in e6 one in crevice e7 and another in f8 when you could intially only see the mech in e7 lets you know exactly where the enemy's movement is. Still plan on staying in hardcore only.

From what I've seen so far I don't think it's that big of a deal. There are pros and cons to being in 3rd person.

I think that they should allow everyone to use 3rd person in the Training Grounds.

However, in live matches I think it should require a module slot. Charge 15,000 GXP to unlock the ability to launch the 3rd person drone. Make it destructible, and charge 40,000 CBills to replace it if it gets destroyed in battle.

Found some video thanks to Hippocrap on twitch.tv.

http://www.twitch.tv...ocrap/c/2674339

Doesn't seem too bad IF there is an option to be in matches to not use it.

This. I have given SC $225.00 of my expendable income that would have gone to PGI since they confirmed 3PV.
