Reducing current armour to about 75% (so 150% of tt value) and increasing internal structure to 150% of current?
Total survivability would be pretty similar (perhaps slightly lower as you would have reduced ability to focus armour to the front) but crit seeking weapons etc would have more of a place and component destruction would play a bigger role.
I guess this would only really work with engine/actuator damage though :/

People need to stop generalizing. This is not any other FPS. Each weight class has and needs the armor they have. Armor is not the issue. Its premades focus firing in comms on pugs is the issue.

External armor needs to increase for 10-15 maybe 20%, little more spending ammo and fight, but current is finee, too

The idea behind this was to make damaging and crippling mechs more of a thing; at the moment most of the time an internal structure location is either undamaged or destroyed. I'd just be curious if this would make the game better or worse.

I'm not saying mechs are too easy to kill- if you read the original idea it wouldn't change the total HP on a mech (perhaps lowering it slightly in real terms).

The idea being to increase the possibility of destroying components before a location is destroyed.
The more I look at it the more problems it causes though, to be honest as the added internal HP comes at no cost in weight meaning mechs could be cannoned up even further.
Hmm back to the drawing board...
