Hello all,

I've spent the last year working on a set of rules for 1/60 scale Battletech (approximately 25mm/28mm miniatures) to complement the increasing number of fantastic models that several interested parties, such as our own Agent Cooper,TheTeacher, Arrtax, and Almeras have been producing as of late.

Battletech is a larger-than-life universe, and I feel that, while the Classic Battletech board game will always hold a special place in our hearts, a more modern wargame in a larger scale can give the franchise new life. I'm trying to bring the awe-inspiring clash of multi-ton war machines to gaming tables everywhere in a combination hobby wargame similar to contemporary games like Warmachine and Warhammer 40,000- but with Battletech, we will be able to claim the throne of biggest and baddest out there. With this in mind, and with the community's help to playtest these rules, I think we can convince Catalyst Game Labs and the Devs here on MWO that we mean business, and can make a viable game to complement, rather than replace, Classic Battletech.

My rules are below, please help me play-test them, and send me feedback with your thoughts:

Hi,

just for information. In the older Battletech core rules like Battletech Compendium and Master Rules were conversion rules for the standard tabletop to miniature play. You can get copies for example at driveThruRPG.com
BattleTech: Vintage Rulebook Bundle

There a miniature rules in the current line of rulebooks in "Strategic operations"

Oh I know. I'm also aware that Catalyst just released "Alpha Strike," their quick-and-dirty conversion to faster gameplay with Battletech miniatures. And I appreciate the info, so don't think i'm knocking you for it. It's just that I want to get past the simple conversion and move towards a full-on, from-the-ground-up wargame. I'm not overly fond of the Ironwind Metals miniatures for battletech, nor the Mechwarrior Dark Age ones (aside from the beautiful N-Scale renditions of 'mechs that some private sculptors have done from scratch). I feel a lot of these minis are lacking in quality and detail. I want this game to be able to rival Warhammer 40,000 and Warmachine, bringing Battletech back to the golden age so to speak. I think MWO is a huge step towards this on the PC gaming side of things. I want to make the sense of awesomeness that you get in MWO to the physical world with wargaming.
