Regardless of your stance on this topic, you cannot condone the Devs on how this was handled. People expended CBills and GXP, specifically the GXP, in order to get the advanced seismic. With the massive nerf they gave it, going from 450m to 200m, that GXP should have been refunded, as well as the CBills, and the skill remove from the players, so they had the option as to reinvest it in that skill or not. GXP is slow to earn, and most probably use MC to convert XP to GXP, so in alot of cases, RL money is involved.
As far as the change itself, I feel it was excessive, but then again, I have come to expect excessive from the Devs. Bringing it down to 325 or 300 would have been acceptable. Most of the complaints were from fast light pilots/ECM mechs that were use to being able to sneak behind with impunity, with little risk of detection. For the purpose of scouting and tagging, you would not need to get closer than 450 anyway, so in no way was it a detriment to that role.
Seismic gives no ability to lock a target, nor to share that info with the rest of the squad other than on voice comms or chat, it's not like a seismic on my mech transmitted the data to all my team. So yes, the nerf was excessive, but PGI is more concerned about appeasement of the lowest common denominator, regardless of any logic or reason.
