I have to agree, I would like to see rounded and/or angular mechs to go along with the slab sided ones we have been seeing as of late.

I vote for the Exterminator.

It has a wedge shapped torso, cockpit and lower leg plus rounded upper arms.

Thug would be another unique and VERY cool looking mech to add.

Then there is the Mongoose, Guillotine and Flashman as well, all very unique.

would LOVE to have this guy in my Light Mech Bay

The Kintaro, Quickdraw, and others in that nature are largely the same mech. They're boring. Again, I didn't say they're done poorly, just poor designs to begin with. As for whether aesthetics are a personal choice, that is true up to a point. There are mechs that a lot of people like, and there are mechs that very few people like. I'm not considering mechs that people say they like because they know a lot of people don't like them in that group either, as that's a social rather than aesthetic choice. Why buy a Quickdraw if you have a Kintaro, or vice versa? Not much difference, and they're boring. While you can say it's a personal choice, the most popular mechs in battletech TT are also aesthically more iconic. From the Marauder to the Warhammer to the Madcat...they've got soul. The current group of stuff we're getting is like reheated coffee...it may wake you up, but it also gives you the *****.

I can agree to more diversity like I said, but to me the Mad Cat is the ugliest PoS I have ever seen. Is it more iconic than the Atlas? Do I think of Battletech when I see a "Marauder"? No I think of Macross. I think the reseen Marauder, though kind of ugly, fits the Battletech Universe better than Tactical Pod Glaug.

Mad Cats don't have souls, they are assembly line lego pod machines that get passed around more than a cold. Now let's see how many people take issue with my personal opinion of that.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion of his/her's own...

Before I became engaged with the community, I didn't mind Mad Cat/Timber Wolf at all. It was there and I knew it is some kind of a deal to people, but in the end, it was just another mech on my way towards this or that .For me, it was simply killed by the awesomness of Warhawk/Fafnir and especially Cauldron Born in trailers and vids of the game. I've simply never seen that appeal in it.

As far as the topic of genericity of mech goes, it's mostly because of the shenaningans you're allowed in the mechlab. In a stock only mode, Kintaro would be kind of a big deal. A completely different mech compared to the long range Trebuchet and mixed Quickdraw. With mechlab, it's just "another generic missile boat at X tons."

Ugly mechs can have personality and not be generic, everybody is allowed to have an opinion of course. My concern is the lack of personality many recent mechs have been released with. As for the Tactical Pod Glaug and me, well I'd trade all my current mechs and the Overlord package I bought for one unseen Marauder...To me it fits Battletech, because Battletech TRO 3025 came with it, and you can't get any more fitting than that. Madcats have a lot more soul then the mindkilling humanoids we've been getting recently in any case.

Perception and first impression is the big thing, especially with the Marauder, and we look at that two different ways. You see the Marauder as an iconic mech and I see it as the Tactical Pod Glaug. Neither one of those is wrong as its based on our own opinion and view of that specific mech/mecha.

I agree ugly mechs can have personality as some have personality because they are ugly, like the Cataphract. Now admittedly we've been on a humanoid kick, but barring clan mechs, unseens, and out of timeline mechs what do we have available?

Also Bishop, I don't like piloting light mechs, but I'd buy a Mongoose just to have a Mongoose.

I appreciate that there are a lot of humanoid mechs in BT and I like the fact that we're getting some of the older chassis that haven't done the rounds in previous MW games, but I'd like to see some of the mechs that really look like they want to eat someone's mech-babies.

Annihilator, King Crab. But I wouldn't mind the Thug or Champion.

A lot of the really brutal looking chassis are clan really, Behemoth, Daishi, Kodiak, Masakari, Man O' War, Gladiator, Blood Asp, Kraken, Cauldron-Born, Supernova, Ryoken.

I think I like the Marauder because it is a Tactical Pod Glaug. I just like the more organic looking mechs myself. Loved the Invid mechs for example. Battletech just doesn't have alot of organic looking mechs to chose from so Marauder it is.

I also think the Cataphract is probably the coolest looking mech currently in game as I just love the bird legged mechs with arms.

Lastly, yeah even if the Mongoose sucks as a mech, I would own and play one just because it looks cool. This is why I really want some of the humanoid 35 tonners like the Firestarter, Wolfhound or Panther to make an appearance, I really dislike the way the Jenner looks and want something cool to replace it.
