Good on you for saying it. I think too much effort and resources are being spent on tweaking poor designs rather than looking closely at what's ruining this game at a mechanics level (not weapon level) and thinking strategically about how the problems can be addressed. Good design is good balance. Weapons parameters are being tweaked when certain game mechanics need be fixed as a priority. I'm still waiting for knockdowns to be brought back but instead we have a system where HSR is broken and lights are protected to the nth degree. It's no wonder people are boating alpha weapons, which is probably yr major gripe, I imagine.

I hate to see new players who were enjoying the game become frustrated after a patch, I would like to see as many players enjoy the game as possible. Try and pinpoint the cause of your frustration and post more details in your first post. You are helping create this game and make it better with your input. I've suffered through every patch, I stopped playing for a long time so I understand how you feel. I'm not trying to frustrate further, but I don't blame you. This patch did make things better for me, many of the overpowered builds are now used less, but right now it seems like a band aid and not a true fix. I do hope the cause of your frustration is addressed in the next patch. I've wasted some money on bad choices as well. I've also had a great deal of frustration, but I've created many glorious memory.

This most recent patch is part of an arc that was an attempt to decrease the use of high alpha damage by increasing the penalties for using alpha, instead of doing something sensible, like giving a buff to chain-fire or increasing armor resistance to pinpoint high alpha strikes.

In other words, they tried to use a stick instead of a carrot, and for some odd reason, no one ENJOYS BEING HIT WITH A STICK (except my second wife, the hussy).

Hi Jestyr1!
First of all welcome aboard. <_<
Now, as a fellow fan of Cicadas, i have noticed the following changes into my play style;
I used to be more careless in running around and maneuvering because of the small amounts of damage inflicted to fast mechs due to net code issues in the past. Now as things in hits registration improved over time, i found myself dying a lot more while driving smaller faster mechs, and a small mistake in the past that i could get away with, was not the case anymore. As a result, i had to adapt to a more cunning and careful style of gameplay when piloting lighter mechs. Also another thing that had a heavy impact on lighter mechs was the speed cap at 40kph when legged. In the past, even when one got legged in a light mech, could pick up a decent amount of speed and had a small chance of getting away, but nowadays once legged, you are dead. Finally it has been my observation that pilots in heavier and slower mechs have a better chance of successfully landing hits on a lighter mech, than the lighter mech on them when running full speed. Maybe something to do with the current HSR issues, i do not know.
Anyways, i would advise, if i may, to drop a few matches, try to pinpoint the causes for your results, share them in here if you feel like it, and adjust as needed.

<S>
