Mechwarrior Living Legends has this beast, and its a pretty smooth ride.

But its a clan mech so it will be some time before it can be seen in MWO.

basp was first deployed in 3059 (according to sarna) and the MWO is situated to year 3049. So I dont think there is a place for basp.

I'm sure Paul will find a way to shoe-horn it in at some point - it is his favourite *REDACTED* 'Mech.

i think the first time some innere sphere jocks encountered this mech was on strana mechty while fighting against clan blood spirit (non-invading clan) to end the invasion for good.
i doubt that it was that common even after that.

You may want to read this first Destiny Valkyrie. As many persons above have stated the Blood Asp (90 Tons) arrives in the I.S through the Clans in 3059 (or the 3060 TRO, take your pick) and as such it will be roughly 10 years down the line until we see it.

The load-out is a bit more devastating too sporting two gauss rifles, 4 heavy medium lasers, 2 medium pulse lasers, and 1 SSRM-6 on the default variant.

At the peril of sounding snobbish, Plasma PPC's and Javelin LRMS, for all intents and purposes, don't exist. The true Blood Asp has:

2x Gauss Rifle
4x Heavy Medium Lasers
2x Medium Pulse Lasers
1x Streak SRM-6

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Blood_Asp

I love the mech, but it's 10 years too early for MWO, which take s place in 3049. Perhaps read up on the various interviews etc on this site, and check out Sarna.net for the proper canon mechs and their configurations.

Do I want a Blood Asp: Yes

Does it make sense for it to be in MW:O in the next 5 years: No

But here's hoping anyway.

One of the most beautiful clan OmniMechs! I love the TRO drawning. Shame that it only appears in ten years.
Well done, Clan Star Adder!

IF PGI does any time line jumping (to bypass the slow years between major events they want to hit during MWO's life) then it very well could show up in the future of the game without having to wait 10 years.

IMO...
Should it appear? Sure why not.
Should it appear in game before its canon date? No.
Should it appear as it did in MA? No. It should be BT variants

It's threads like these that make me realise that there's too many who understand neither the universe nor the timeperiod MWO is set in.

Not being rude here at all to be honest, just needing to point something obvious out here.

Because out of the 7 Billion people on this current generation of humans (who are all about current events, games, timelines, etc - MW= Modern Warfare replacing MechWarrior as a "gaming term" name for crying out loud) how or why should/could they "know/keep pace" with something that happened back in the 90s?

The sooner BattleTech/MechWarrior embraces the modern age, the less confused/misinformed people there will be about the lore that needs to now "catch up to the times".

I know most will disagree, but these kinds of threads should be definitive proof that the vast majority of "non-BT/MWers" need to be brought into the fold of BT/MW if it hopes to stay relevant in a changing (not stagnant) world.

Just my two cents here is all. ^_^

This should not, however, preclude a little research to avoid being perceived as totally ignorant of the milieu. The MWO information clearly states WHEN the timeline begins (psssst, it is 3049). Extrapolating out for the possibility of a given mech should be an easy thing to do OFFLINE before deciding to post "I want "this mech" in the game".

I really do not understand your point about BT/MW joining the modern age, though - seems a nonsensical throwaway point. The information about this ,ilieu is available in digital form in a lot of places, you suggest it is not with your comment. Please explain better.

Patience is something in short supply and it is not about bring this franchise into the 21st century - it is about "I want mechs and I want them now" - The battletech milieu will remain static until about one year after the game launches, after which, things will start to diverge from the canon storyline. That is not "catching up" it is evolution.

What a question. Its in the readouts and an official FASA design, *** every damn mech from the books should be in the game and i would be seriously dissapointed if they start to introduce new designs before having all the given ones availiable.

Its a kick *** machine if u like to play a stationary gunplatform, like the Thunder Hawk, the Naga, the Devastator and so on.... and pls dont tell me that 3/5/X is moblie, i dont even remember if its jump capable.

The Blood Asp is 4/6, which is fairly mobile for a 90-ton 'Mech. And since it's an OmniMech, it can be jump capable whenever it wants to as well.
