I'm sure this has been mentioned in the past, but I think with MWO at the stage that it is in now, being free to play, partnering with Valve to put MWO on steam would be a shot in the arm for this game.

Sorry but this is PGI's last ditch trump card. Too early and it will turn people off to an incomplete game. Also Steam would add a substantial cost to server overhead due to bandwidth for necessary player increase. Also we still suffer from HSR. Massive player influx, imcomplete game, no HSR fix, = game shooting itself in the foot.
The safest way is the way they are doing it right now, building a foundation and slowly building infrastructure with players. The only danger to this is that they run the risk of a slow death rather then a fast one due to old players no longer being a sustainable income due to fatigue and slow progress and the negative views that may make the masses wary when they are forced to use the steam card.
There is a delicate balance between new content as fuel, and player interest as air, to keep the engine running.

No I do not want this game to go on Steam I do not like the Steam program I would rather have this a pay to play game before going to someplace like that. If the company really wanted money they change it to pay to play for 14 a month. Alot of ptp games succeed over ftp games because when you pay to play it brings the company more money to create more content to fuel more customers which is more money for them and it is a chain cycle that feeds itself. World of Warcraft for instance had a huge player base when it was young cause it was and still is ptp instead of ftp.

I think Steam will help greatly when we have a more complete game.
@zarla it's a fact that f2p games on average make more money that p2p games with similar player bases. With either model though you need to have a solid and addictive game to sustain profit. But I'm not sure what p2p vs f2p has to so with a thread about publishing on Steam.
