Did the model based off of the original with very little in the way of modifcation to the design. The level of detail was intentionally kept somewhat low as it was needed by the end of the day, painted as well. Even so, I think it came out quite nicely and I wonder what the community thinks.

I have a much higher detail print of my older "Nova mkII" design that posted on the forums months ago in the works. As a note to how much higher it will be.... well lets just say that Urbie is essentially printed in 5 parts and the Nova will be upwards of 45-50 parts when completed and with moving limbs as a bonus!

Now.... FEED ME JENNERS!

Another note I suppose I should make is that I prefer more original art. I've seen a few of the 3D printed PGI mechs out there and I will honestly say that they were done extremely well. There is a lot more effort involved even in just taking the PGI models to print than people may realize. That said, I prefer doing my own thing when it comes to 'mechs and hopefully that adds a little more interest.

Sheesh. Pushing the boundaries are we? I would say that this guy is a pretty decent comparison to HO scale, perhaps a little large if anything. After doing a quick conversion it looks like it is about 8.5m to the top of the dome at HO scale. The print was at medium quality there so if you didn't mind the wait for higher quality printing at the smaller size I am sure it would be possible to do N-scale.... just nothing in Z :3

Holy smokes 45-50 parts, that's more than the atlas.

Draw me a rear view of the mech and let boredom take over from there.

So I am starting the model now. Just a note that I won't be pushing the details of the 3D stuff tooooo far as much of it would be lost in the final print but as far as making something of decent quality to render? Who knows.

another quick update on the blockout.

Posted Image

still not sure if i'll finish it might be a while before i get to work on it some more. this has been about 2.5 hours of work or so. I've had to deviate from the original drawings in a few places because of inconsistencies and some perspective errors which make some of the design physically impossible.

P.S. KaiserTodretter if you want me to post these in another thread i'll do so i don't want to hijack your thread.

that's the joy of 2D to 3D. Alex commented on how often he has to "fix stuff" for the same reason, and he has been working with the modelers for the 3D for how long?

I suppose if I had the skill to do it myself, I could make the tweaks as I went to keep the "feel", but since I don't I just have to see how it rolls out!
