Mwo A Sandbox? And Other Ideas/questions.

I wonder if this game could work as sandbox game?
I feel heavily limited so far. Just join game and play until someone cap or be a last man standing. CTF would be fun I guess.
I would like to move around the "map" and fight other factions/clans when I want and not randomly.
I'm saying that as former EVE Online player ( 8yrs or so)
80% of MMO's that's coming out is a sandbox as it's the future of the Multiplayer gaming imo.
For now I feel like solo player. I can add friends to the list but I can't team up with them and play a game. I'm missing something like global/faction/friends chat.
Is there going to be any flying mech? (loved it in Earthsiege 2, not a MW series but...)
Is there going to be any black market/auction house?
Is there going to be any benefit other that xp and c-bill in game?
I'm thinking of chance to obtain upgraded version of weapon/mod or ability to upgrade it?
How about a clan being able to build a base, expand it to be able to manufacture better weapons/mechs? how about if it could be attacked to steal resources or any other things and it would have to be defended? to promote pvp.
Is there going to be any base/starbase of factions where you could meet other players? trade with them perhaps or make some shopping for your mech.
On assault maps there should be something to go for as on large maps it quite often happens that both teams never even see each other and just go for cap. There have to be something in the middle of the map to force players to go over there, meet/meat each other rather than having "yawn" mode.
In my opinion this game lacks of many things that are common in other games and it will be a long time before it's done.
For now it got me hooked but It worries me that if things will not change in reasonable amount of time I'll just let it go. Since I've abandoned EVE I played several games and they only got me hooked for 3 months top. It's not my 1st game and it won't be the last, but I wish to play it for as long as possible.

Because currently, PGI is taking their sweet time just putting the systems that ALLOW participating in said area into the game, and after that, they'll have to actually put that area into the game (U.I. 2.0/CW, respectively). Do we really want them to take more time working on this, when it has almost 0 impact on the game?

It seems like you want this to have MMO features, I guess I am expecting a vehicle shooter or maybe a MOBA game.
The devs have said no player auction house (one of the ATD, do not have link).
While we do not know what form CW will take I suspect it will simply serve as the matchmaker for 12v12 matches over a fairly static star map whose borders can change a bit (but nothing too dramatic).
I hope I am wrong, but I don't think the devs are going for MMO features (at least they seem to avoid calling the game an MMO) so I don't really see them putting any kind of sandbox universe in place.

This sounds like community warfare. Something you can do is get on a teamspeak/vent server and group up with people. Its a lot of fun.

As it stands now the game isn't designed for flying mechs. Some of the maps are just to small to support them. Take Forest Colony. A LAM would jump into the air, turn into a plane and fly out of bounds before it could turn around. On larger maps it might be doable but the tactical advantage to being a LAM would be extreme. Who needs lights when a LAM can cover twice the distance in less time? Base cap? A breeze. Shooting at them would be difficult because most mechs have a 30o ? vertical on their arms so anything with in a few hundred meters would be untargetable.
Is there going to be any black market/auction house?
This is one of those questions only PGI can answer. There are some hurtles to deal with though; abuse, fraud, and spam.
If goods can be swapped between players through an auction house then I have the means to transfer money between players. And if I can do that then I can farm Cbills and sell it to players for real money.
While I loved to see some form of auction house / market I don't see how one can be implemented with in the current game structure.
Is there going to be any benefit other that xp and c-bill in game?
Not likely. People have asked for a way to use GXP or c-bills to buy decals, or maybe mech quirks. But PGI is keeping a tight lid on any new uses for XP or cbills.
I'm thinking of chance to obtain upgraded version of weapon/mod or ability to upgrade it?
PGI has talked weapon having different quirks based off their manufacture.
Luxor Devastator-20 (AC/20) from Johnston Industries might do 21pts of damage but a longer recycle rate.
Pontiac 100 (AC/20) by Sterope Defense Industries might have longer range but produce more heat.
How about a clan being able to build a base, expand it to be able to manufacture better weapons/mechs? how about if it could be attacked to steal resources or any other things and it would have to be defended? to promote pvp.
Sort of like 'Mighty Quest for Epic Loot'? where you build a castle, install defenses and go raid other player's castles. Maybe but not sure how that would fit into the game as everything we have is mech on mech action and there are no botI mechs to fight.
Is there going to be any base/starbase of factions where you could meet other players? trade with them perhaps or make some shopping for your mech.
Without more info from PGI we think each faction will have a lobby of some sort to go to to team up with other players. Trading? Not likely with the current game structure.

King of the Hill
Death Match
Last man standing.
Lots of suggestions. Nothing yet.

Something I think the game is missing is the human element. I as a person want someone in the game I can relate to. I want to see a pilot in the mech lab walking around looking at the mech. I want a pilot I can customize to represent me as I play. I want a pilot I can spend Cbills on for uniforms, hair cuts etc. I want a pilot that I can burn gxp on and make him/her better in which ever mech they are piloting. I want to customize my pilots so I can have one better at LRMs than lasers. Something, anything to get me emotionally invested in the game. And unless PGI can do that players wont have a long term comittment to the game.

I don't think that MWO will ever be exactly what the OP is suggesting, but I do hope it incorporates many avenues of a more "RP" nature than it currently has.
