OK, I've never been able to play around with premades, primarily because it seems you have to already know who you're going to run with ahead of time, and I've never seen a group invite popup (is there one? or does the game rely on you going into the social menu?)

Every other multiplayer game I've played recently has SOME kind of "Looking for group"/"Looking for members" interface...if this game has one, I've not found it yet.

So...nobody else thinks there should be an easy to find "LFM/LFG" widget? Or is there one and everyone just assumes all players will be able to find it wherever they hid it?

Which means what, exactly? Is that a thing that's in the game that isn't explained anywhere? Love the exacting instructions you've given there to explain how to get there, set up a "LFG" flag, and get into a group.

Please for the love of god stop trying to compare this game to garbage like WoW. I don't want LFG because much like in WoW, it's a cancerous pain in the arse riddled with mouthbreathing scrubs who can't play a simple game the way it was meant to be played. This game is losing it's enjoyment factor rather quickly and the PPC/Gauss Warrior Online is getting more unbearable for me and many other competitive players because it's nothing more then absolute cheese to play that way. This game gets worse by the patch, and I am not the only person about ready to tell PGI to go shove it up their own arses and walk away from this game.

Also, this game is still in BETA, read that? I said BETA. There is a lot of stuff missing from this game, but this game does not by any means need a LFG system. If you want to do group drops, join a clan or get on Teamspeak and use one of the ComStar servers to find groups in the pug channels, there are tons of players who do that and not once do they cry about not being able to find groups to do drops with.

PS, LFG killed the community in WoW, LFR is killing the pug community in WoW and Flex Raid plus cross server raids are going to drive the spike into the coffin that is WoW, if any of that garbage gets into MWO, I will quit permanently, and I know a lot of other people will too.

I couldn't give a crap about WoW...it was an example, not a recommendation. Played it for about a month about 4 years ago, said "Meh!" and went back to playing COH, til NCSoft dumped it for no reason at all.

So you'd rather have random individual pickups in your PUG, than have a means of building a team and weeding out the losers by observing their performance? Fine...have fun with your All-Pug adds. Me, I'd still like some means of building up to a 12 man team, finding out who plays well, and marking them as friends in the end-of-mission screen to build a list of reliable decent players.

Since I started playing this in closed beta I have only ever encounered one non-voip group that I got invited to while playing solo. So it can happen, just PGI have not provided the tools to encourage it.

I hope they will improve this stuff for UI2.0, one thing that would help non-voip players I think, would be the ability to friend and group players from the scoreboard in game aswell as from the social tab. The friends list currently only shows 3 status' online, offline and ingame, it should also show, online (in group), online (ungrouped). This would enable non-voip players to build up a buddy list and put together pick up groups a lot easier.

Until then, Redwood, you should give team-speak a go. You dont need a mic although it is prefered. See here for more info.

While your suggest seems like a good idea, the biggest downfall is that people having the ability to send friend requests to those they have done random drops with or against from the score sheet, could be obtrusive and annoying. I have done pug drops where someone on my team has sent me a friend request randomly without asking to do so, or me asking them to send the request. The only people on my friend's list are people in my clan, as well as some of the guys from your own group on the ComStar NA teamspeak server (I am in Q.Q Mercs btw). I think having a LFG feature would hamper the potential for people to get involved in clans or seek out properly organized groups. Teamspeak is by far and away the best way to play MWO and play well when you can communicate with your team, and having VOIP back when I played WoW made running dungeons and raids more bearable because you could organize and communicate properly. I think that is where the biggest failure of a LFG system comes from, is player communication in a game that requires strategy to do well.
