Probably not, but who knows.

"Some 'mechs were simply not meant to fly" And in canon there are even 'mechs that came stock with JJ's but even then still didn't fly very well.

Nop, they have only stated the only mechs variants that can put on Jump Jets are those variants that came with jump jets. So if it did not have jump jets on it to start, it does not get the ability to put them on, at least at this time frame, who knows it can change later down the road.

We would not get that for a few more years anyways, in game is 3049, it indicates that the jump pack was introduced near 3053

What about Jump Jets?
Jump Jets in MechWarrior Online are chassis specific. If a BattleMech comes with Jump Jets, then a player can add/remove as they wish.

you can only put jump jets on mechs that have them, catapult for example has jump jets so any variant of it can use them, atlas and stalker do not have jump jets and never can. urban mech can jump, for assaults highlander can jump as well as a couple others. clan jumpers include mechs like the thor.

theyre staying 100% true to table top stock designs on hard points available and jump jet usage here, so if you want a jumping mech, youll have to buy a jumping mech, you wont just be slappin jets on anything.

Actually I think its only the Variants with JJ can have JJ, but I could be wrong.

You can only place JJs on a Mech Variant that had them when you 1st bought the Mech. Say you buy a MAD-3R you can never place JJ on it. But, say you buy a MAD-5D. you can strip out the JJs and place them back in later on.

From what I can tell the Weapon types (Energy, Ballistic, Missile) are variant specific. So if a variant does not have a Ballistic weapon it cannot equip one

Highlander Burial was actually just a DFA by a highlander... it mentions it in the fluff text of the mech.

If they follow the time line as is you can get JJ's on a commando in about 18 years. ;)

i think the statement so far was "you can put jumpjets on chassies with jump-capable varients"...i dunno if that means you can put some on your no-jumpjets chassis, if there is a varient of it existing that has JJ´s...

If it's not JJ able from the start you can not, if a variant has JJ's you could use JJ's on that variant only.
The only Commando you could have with JJ's is the COM-7B variant.

"Jump Jets in MechWarrior Online are chassis specific. If a BattleMech comes with Jump Jets, then a player can add/remove as they wish" is pretty self explanatory. If it comes with it. you can take it off and put it on....If it doesn't you can't
