Konniving, would TT heat have much effect on the PPC/guass cookie cutter build we're seeing now?

It depends on the sinks available. If 20 Dubs... I say very little as it should be. 2 PPCs and a Gauss is not overpowered. Stop complaining. Cause I will have to explode the internet when we start reading about 1 Gauss 1 PPC builds being OP!

I think it's funny that you and most people seem to think hardpoint restrictions are a wave of the wand like the heat scale. It'd take a lot more ******* around than most people realize to implement size restrictions on hardpoints. I can practically guarantee you that anything that involves the Mechlab is a huge pain in the *** to change.

To be clear, I support hardpoint restrictions as a general principle. Not as a solution to boating and not in the immediate future, but I do hope they're eventually implemented to prevent redundancy.

Well, HB, this time I must say your short term memory is lacking, as we had this discussion before. I call hardpoint slots a "short term" decision because they would fix the current abuse, but would not prevent future abuse if mechs like the Warhawk or etc are introduced. Also called short term because it could have taken as much time as the heat scale to implement (which took about a month). It's too late to go back now, but still interesting to know what people would have preferred.

Call this a "what if" poll.

I voted heat scale, but my intent was not to support the heat tax as the best short-term fix.

I voted heat scale to throw my vote behind adding an actual heat scale, as in penalties to things like accuracy as your heat climbs.

I think having heat affect movement, maneuverability, accuracy, and even your radar and comms would solve a great many of the immediate issues this game has (and should prove equally valuable going forward).

hmm, I think I should make my poll clearer then, I really meant heat penalties for using alphas

what's interesting are the %. All the polls I read, so far, about hardpoint slots showed around the same favorable % (around 60-65%) and here, I thought the hate towards the heat penalties would have given more weight to hardpoint slots.

So, no matter how much some hate the current heat penalties, they still prefer this to hardpoint slots.

Both.

But if pinpoint multi-weapon convergence were fixed, we wouldn't really need either.

Same thing to me. The Cookie Cutter Builds are the ones winning the game and doing it cause of them being OP. However I stand by my statement. We will see people complaining about 1 Gauss 1 PPC builds if this gets forced into an issue.

In 4 months of PUGging I didn't see the problem. This was with Alt accounts that didn't influenced my Group Elo.
