In a Dev Blog (http://mwomercs.com/...rmation-warfare), it was mentioned that one way to gain Line of Sight/Detection would be "Detectors – Dropped off on the battlefield".
I'd suggest that rather than making these detectors a 'Mech module that these be a dedicated 'weapon/equipment'. Thus, you'd have to choose to add a sensor bay that could be fitted and loaded with 'sensor ammo' which would also require weight. This is also consistent with BT lore (http://www.sarna.net...ensor_Dispenser).
Sensors can make a huge impact in the game (especially with LRMs and remote locking...) and will need to be balanced carefully. Teams that want to really engage in sensor warfare and the tactics associated with them should invest in that capability rather than 'getting it for free'.
Just a thought,

I agree with Insanity - no advantage without a corresponding disadvantage. having said that it would be useful on a very fast mech that could effectively lay a tripwire across the map, to pinpoint where to look. yet another reason to balance your force. Weight could be 1 to 1.5 tons and 1 crit. Its still a sacrifice on a light mech.

Not really mech gear from battletech board game but there is something like that for the TT and roleplaying game, installable on battlearmor and maybe something for vehicles.
