I hope the maps will have a variety of water features with varying depths and that the game will accurately reflect water depth effect on a mech. Water should have significant shielding effectiveness for immersed portions of the mech (machine gun and laser fire does not get very far in water) and similarly the weapons systems that are immersed on the mech should not function. Also, the deeper the immersion, the slower the mech should move and cooling should be increased.

I'm torn over whether or not there should be areas where a mech could be fully submerged or time restrictions. I have this nightmare vision of some unpleasant person hiding in a lake and shutting down... and the match dragging on while people look to find them.

Water seepage could be used as a time limiter. Stay in water with your torso or deeper submerged and your electrical systems start frying.

If I recall, cooling efficiency would only be increased if you happened to put your heat sinks into your legs.

I seem to also recall issues like flooding... If you crack the armor of a panel, and then its submerged in water, it floods and basically totally hoses the mech.

You could also have the seepage effect ammo and weapons. Water logged ammunition could knock out rockets, lasers short out, AC firing systems fail, etc. After a mech leaves the water, seepage effects could be reversed along the same clock as water streams out the holes it entered. Weapon systems would come back online as the mech dries out.

In TT rules, the problems with going scuba diving with a Mech is if you lost your armor in a section then there is a chance of flooding that section, which destroys that section. You cannot jump out of water and i think missiles and guns don't fire. You have to slowly walk on the bottom of the body of water. If you have lasers and ppc, they work underwater, but yeah you are safe from surface attack. It might be different in MWO and Mechwarrior.
