"Great"... another HUGE map... why do we keep getting borring humongo maps that make me fall asleep at my keyboard... I quit the battle everytime I get in to thise maps... is just no bloddy fun running around playing hide & seek...

Why dont we get some arena styled maps or a jungel map or somthing in that style...

no... we get another hot map.... and ofc its another HUGE map....

Please stop this nonsense and give us what we want! Maps that dont support Missile boating and base ninja capping... How fun is it to walk half across the map to lose the game to light ninja capping... os so bloddy borring!!!

Terra Therma isn't that big - it's Caustic Valley sized. If feels way bigger though, because all the engagements on it happen at 600m or less - there are no sightlines across the map, and if you need to book it to where a fight IS happening, then you take forever and wind around all the giant volcanic humps.

It's a neat concept, but it needs to be 25% to 50% smaller than it is - it's way too hard to find the fight as is.

Small maps:
Forest Colony
Forest Colony Snow
Frozen City
Frozen City Night
Caustic Valley
River City
River City Night

Large maps:
Alpine Peaks
Tourmaline Desert
Canyon Network
Terra Therma

You have a 7/11, or 63.6% chance of dropping on a small map.

Also, 12v12.

And some of us DO think it's "fun running around playing hide & seek...".

I love to brawl and fight, that why i play MWO... I respect that other players enjoy running around but I realy dont see why I need to be forced to do this... I do NOT like it but i HAVE to play along..

The maps can be made diffrently so ninja capping is not possible...

This map is the most horrid thing to happen to MWO. I want the option to never play it.

I'll say this much - Terra Therma is one of the best maps to be a medium on. You don't have to worry too much about being sniped, and meds with decent speed can dance around the spires and avoid the heavies. Lights can have it rough when they step around a corner and eat an entire lance's worth of fire.

As a Heavy or Assault though - this map BLOWS. If you can't do 75+ kph, or have no jump jets, you are going to be largely irrelevant on this map. Not only are there no straight lines to where to want to go, the curving paths will often take you twice as long to move along than expected.

If you had the option to swap out mechs when you saw the map - kinda like the Dropship mode that has been proposed, it wouldn't be so bad. But watching two Atlases and two Stalkers plod around at 48kph while lights and meds do all the work on this map sucks.

I hope 12v12 helps it. I'm not sure that it will, given the very twisty nature of this map, but it'll make Alpine and Caustic more hectic.

I´m seriously not an expert player, but from a casual gamers point of view, i just can say: There are 4 maps i seriously hate to play: Terra Therma, Tourmaline Desert, Canyon Network and Frozen City.

The first three are way too large for 8 vs 8! It just sucks riding a mech below 80 km/h speed, taking forever to find the enemy or tecognizing some Spider etc. starting to cap the base before anything had happend. It´s like 5+ minutes waste of time until some cap has happend in 80% of the games, especially on TT. Besides that, i feel rather uncomfortable since they are pretty hot.
Frozen City i just don´t like because of this stupid snow storm, forcing any player to run around in thermal sight all the time. The game can look so beatyfull, so i don´t want to see it in deffierent nuances of grey all the time...

i never really considered canyon to be a big map. seemed just about the right size. terra therma seems much bigger because of all the extra travel time it takes to get anywhere- but is the least sniper friendly place if you avoid the theta platform i'm finding. also i do find i like the look of the map- but can't see it because i use night vision since the rocks and mechs look too close in color for me to use regular vision (yes partially color blind here) on it.

I don't like TT anyway, in random 90% of games ends with base cap, only option if teams will make and agreement to fight. This map is real pain when you are playing solo assault mech. Most of the time if fight starts you will be the last one. Several problems are - movement mechanics ( real pain to run 29kph cause of terrain), no open spaces ( tourmaline is big map too, but even in slow moving mech you can take right position or to support your team with long range weapon) and the main problem -we can't decide on which maps we wish to play ( for example give us an option to ban 1-2 maps from map list, so ppl will be able to decide, it wont hurt any balance or matchmaking). And horrid thing is when somebody is hitting you with ppc in the face f...... HDR blackens your screen so you can't see totaly nothing for several seconds, and you can't use thermal vision to get rid from this dumb effect.

I hate this map, looks pretty but is too big, It took me 2 and a half minutes just to run to the other cap doing 100kph. I think the cap timer needs to increase significantly on larger levels like this and alpine peak , to allow players to at least attempt to return to base, the alternative is sitting at your base for 2-4 minutes waiting for the enemy to show up.

Just head towards the enemy. If reach the halfway point and haven't encountered any enemies, cap. The map is designed in such a way that by the time you get there, any enemies will be WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY far away, and in a pug game, no one will want to be the dude to trudge all the way back to get you.

Once you're in the cap zone go AFK or alt tab out and browse the web a bit. Maybe play a game on your iphone (see my sig), or open another game.

I am also not a fan of this map, liked all the others so far, Love Canyon, and Tourmaline.
This Map feels far to big, even the center area is nearly a kilometer across.

Re-arranged by approximate actual size. One grid square is 500 meters long, 500 meters wide. I need to go count the grid squares to be 100% sure, but it's pretty close to as I've placed it.

I don't hate it. As teams are beginning to develop tactics, or at least out right saying, "Let's meet in the middle." I don't mind a long fight or a big map at all. I don't even mind the occasional ninja cap. However, I've just played the map four times in a row. And that is becoming a little rough.

I like it quite a lot in Conquest Mode, but it's a vile, terrible Assault map.

Sounds like a player that just goes straight to battle without thinking. Huge maps are a way of putting more fun into the Battles. Adventure, tactics, communications, toying with the enemy (movement and to lose their ammo), and a whole lot more when it comes to war. Myself is not one of those kids who like to just run straight to the enemy and shoot, and hope for victory. Their is no fun in that.
