Ok guys, some of you are having FPS troubles since 12v12.

Download & Install the package at www.terrantitans.com/mwo-user-cfg

Choose the user.cfg closest to your possible settings (low, med, high, etc)

You need to create user.cfg file in the mwo root folder, same location where system.cfg is located, usually piranha games/mechwarrior online

paste the contents of one of the user.cfg (low/high etc) into the cfg file.

try to run the game at your monitors native/desktop resolution first.

#1 disable shadows using user.cfg.

#2 lower draw distances with user.cfg

#3 use e_TerrainTextureLodRatio = 1 or 2 (0 is max qaulity, 2 is lowest)

#4 lower detail distance

#5 Cull Lodratio from 40 to 20 or 10

#6 lower water quality

Sample ultra-high config with some values breakdown for understanding (labels " ; ")

Any before/after pictures using the same scene with different user.cfg settings?

Great stuff!

I installed the tweaks and used one of the user cfgs to improve my FPS. Ran into a slight problem though: Got rid of the grainy look and motion blur, but with the cfg-file in place, now my *cockpit* gets all blurry once I move my Mech or torso around. It's pretty ugly and is actually giving me eye-cancer.. ;) Anyone know how to fix this?

Turn off motion blur in the ingame options, and make sure motionblur is set to 0 in the user.cfg files.

Just nuked MWO flat and reinstalled. I'm gonna do a few tests with, and without the user.cfg && film grain fix. It's been a few months since I played (since April) so I'm very interested in what's been going on.

Note: I'll be on the lowest possible settings, and using ATI Tray Tools to screw around with driver settings.

The config helps alot after the initial low fps to start. With the patch and config still will start at 7-9 fps then at some time goes to 20-35 like it should.

Fixed the motion blur thing (thanks for the tip), but still no joy with my FPS. Training mode runs incredibly smooth now (50-60 FPS), but online it's still the same jerky crap. Using the med-high premade CFG @1920x1080. :)

try the lowest one and see how it goes. you'll need to adjust settings to find what your bottleneck is.

Thanks, I'll play around with them .. once I've identified them all in the cfg file.. :)

Just in case someone is running a rig similar to mine and already has a good cfg-file, here are my specs:

Core2Quad 9300 @2.74 GHz on Asus P5Q-E
2x4 GB of DDR2 RAM
Gigabyte GTX460 OC (currently further OCed to 740 MHz)
Vista 64

About point 2 and point 4 what's the exact commands we have to look in ? coz I'm looking in the low config and some command missing, like the terrain stuff. Plus how to lower the boring bright white stuff in snowy maps and on Caustic ?

the brightness is the HDR values.

drawdistance is drawratio, terraindistanceratio, etc.

you need to add terraintexturelodratio and set the value .

Just wanted to say thank you very much for the effort you put into these Colonel.

Got a new GPU last week (7950) with the idea of upgrading cpu/mobo/RAM at a later date when i have the funds to get them all at once. (heavily overclocked E5200 Wolfdale 2M Dual Core with 4GB DDR2 mem still atm)

The customization you're able to achieve with your files really allow me to tune my game to better suit my rig and it has given me the attitude of "oh yeah i'll play some Mechwarrior" instead of the "i could play some Mechwarrior.. pity it still doesnt run great though"

So a virtual high five and two thumbs up to you and your very useful knowledge of the Cyrsis engine.

Also a big Hurrah

Hurrah!!

All I can say is thank you. Since 12v12 MWO has just not been playable or fun. Everything has been so sluggish, taking hits I didn't see fired, firing and doing practically nothing to people... etc.

This fix has made the game somewhat playable again. Its definitely not back to the level it was in 8v8 but it is better... Just hope PGI gets it straightened out. This sluggishness/teleporting is not enjoyable.

Colonel I need your help pls. my machine is a E8400 and based on the high config you post I try to change some value to lowest but still I got quite crappy performance (something like 15 18fps) while back on 8vs8 not using user.cfg I get somehow around 35 40 fps.
Could you pls suggest some other value to lower on this config based on your experience ?
The HDR stuff you told me, I remember you talk of it in a post but I not find the value I have to set any more specially on snowy maps could you pls help me on this little tuning stuff ? Best regards,

Game works fine in Training Grounds, and most of the time in MP, but get surrounded by a few Lights and everything goes into slow-motion. Can't just be related to visual settings. Gotta be some kinda basic network lag issue. Never had this in 8v8; only since 12v12. CPU, GPU and LAN connection are not at max in monitoring tools, but I can see interruptions / dips in activity. Briefly Alt tabbing back to Windows sometimes helps, but is not ideal in the middle of a fight!
