This is an attempt to inspire people to listen to strategy. First off whenyour scout is pumping out huge amounts of recon intel please take the opertunity to move on it. For example we have 12 mechs on one side of the hill. And five on the on the other. Your scout relays this info and the team says nothing and does nothing. So you attempt to command and not a single movement order is executed. Seven minutes go by the assaults are still not pushing the line forward.. the tango count is still 12 v 5 on the hill. So you try issuing lance specific orders and still nothing. Two minutes pass and the remainig enemy team swarms and destroys you completely. So if your scout is feeding you intel who also happens to be the team commander. You might want to listen to him/her because they might have sound reasons for the orders. Now im not saying im a master strategist cause im not. Try it.. What harm can come of it. Or is your precious kd ratio that important that you cower behind towers of rock and fire a couple of shots.Im not saying do a medal of honor charge. But dont just hide. Rember flanking is a very valid and effective tactic. As well a radar baiting. I have acheived victory frequently when i have taken charge of the battle group. The current level of players whom do not seize the oppertunity to be led you make leadership very unrewarding.

So if you have someone trying to issuse orders please give it a shot. Whats the worst that could happen.

You tell 'em Yammato! This is a team game and all those people who are pansies about their K/D ratios should just go back to all the other generic shooters out there because combat here is based on battlemech pilot simulation and strategic team-based battle operations. Even if you drop solo it's in your best interest to make considerations about enemy and teammate positions as well as considering advice from your fellow teammates.

I agree.

Strategy wins games. Your mech and your loadout don't.
(they can help though)

You see 3 friendly assault mechs pushing forward ? Go with them. Back up you team. Also call out mistakes if you see them, like a lone mech going down off to die. Call them in chat "hey, come back". See a traget ? Call it "4 enemies b3" etc.

Also there are great threads on map specific tactics. These are pure gold. Winning on some maps is very easy if you avoid certain mistakes.

Example:
- River City: if you start at the docks (the lower area with the rafineries and the big ship): DON'T go down the river or across it to the right. It's a ticket to disaster unless you're planning to push to the enemy base (near the planes)

You seem to make a common mistake: you assumed that people play to win.
Many don't really care. And many of those who do, always "know it better" anyway and refuse to listen to anyone, especially that "wise-guy commander wannabe".
And that's perfectly fine, because they can do whatever they want, unless it's illegal.

The upcoming changes will probably make that a bit more bearable, with the two modes easy/casual and hardcore/pro. Helps keeping people of similar mindset together.

Also, don't blame it all on the players. Ingame communication is REALLY clunky. I love any intel I get, but I simply miss it very often, because the game doesn't help us there at all. This will improve as well (was announced for post-launch).

From what I have seen on the YouTube videos of games played, it can be really hard to see the chat. Of course it could be my computer, but if I want to read stuff in the video I have to go to full screen, increase the quality to max, and hopefully pause it at the correct frames. Even then the chat can be incredibly hard to read. The font is tiny. And the colors can be pretty bad too; white or yellow on Tourmalaine was at least in one video.

Original post could use better spacing to make it easier to read; also bold is enough for emphasis as is underline. Both makes it hard to read.

That said... Teamwork is a precious thing.

In this match both sides are playing "cover warrior, pop-and-shoot," and so we decided to flank and systematically take enemies out. Flanking is important as well.

+1 this for sure.... Another note if you have a premade team in your midst... follow and listen to them... we know what we are doing and always go in with a plan...

I have to agree that the chat interface is very clunky.
