Just treat it as a 55 ton Cat and you will be good. It is actually a fairly good missile platform for a medium, the mistake people do is they stare them self blind on the SRM´s and try to brawl with it.. I would not recommend that.. It is hard enough to brawl with a HBK these days and it is A LOT more agile

The other Kintaros should be better at that role.

It is good at long range and can at least defend it self at medium range... Just keep out of short range for the love of all.

So to sum it up, the GB follows the curve of most hero mechs. It is decent but not really good enough to outshine the regular mechs aka working as intended.

How exactly are you loading it?
I can't see filling all the missile hardpoints unless it's with LRM5s, and even then you can't have artemis.
If you're mounting the same weapons as a catapult, you're even slower, and if you're mounting less than you're not much of a threat as an LRM mech anyway.

This thing is awful. Man, I was looking forward to the Kintaro... but it's just way too big, and the CT is also way too huge.

For a medium? Try for any mech in the game. This bucket of rubbish is nothing but PURE center torso.

I get that you are trying to made lemonade from lemons, but this mech is seriously bad and needs to be sent back with a strong word about quality control.

I love MWO, I collect every hero mech that comes out, I pay money to get my premium time. I love it when a new mech comes out I get to master it and learn all it's quirks.

So here I am sitting with a 4125 MC mech that is unplayable garbage.

I want to play it!

But playing it is such an unbelievably frustrating experience that it is not even worth the time.

Worse in 2 weeks we have the rest of the KTO's to look forward to which are exactly in the same boat, a mech that is so badly designed that I won't even purchase it, and I am ROLLING in the C-bills and empty mech bays.

The only opponent this mech could come close to winning in a 1v1 straight up fight is another KTO because every bit of incoming fire hits that damn CT and you only have 72 points of armor which you have to split with the rear torso.

Another month of playing the same old mechs waiting till they fix this mech (if they ever do, doubtful) or just wait till next month.

The KTO makes me feel like I got the coolest video game for Christmas but it turns out it's busted and won't run, so all you can do is just sit there and stare at the box.

well, not to make light o your purchase, but it IS a Kintaro, so it being a heaping pile of cr*p is pretty appropriate.

Actually I was in a 2 man 3025 TT league a few years ago, we went on to lay down the law with an Orion and Kintaro. I have always respected the Kintaro since then.

It was a beat stick of epic proportions that could take a fair bit of punishment, it had stock 11 tons of armor.

It was one of the premier stock brawlers, not sure why it got such a bad rap.

Dunno, I just have ALWAYS vastly preferred the Dervish. I ran Dervish and Enforcers lances a lot. (But I admit, I just might be really biased on it's looks)

Well it is a heck of a larger threat as a LRM mech then a SRM mech right now. Sure you could take a Treb and get pretty much the exact same effect. But that reb will not have a C-Bill bonus nor will it have a awesome paintjob.

It is a hero mech... They will never be worth the price ton for ton... Not even the good ones.

I am just saying that if you have one... Run it as a long range missile boat unless you have some good support. Because in the current meta it is simply not a brawler.

I dunno, I think my Ilya has earned it's purchase price since I tuned my build (It's become my highest KDr mech since I switched builds, from my 3rd lowest, and far exceeds my other Cataphracts). But in general, I would agree.

.... I hope you realize the regular Kintaro's have less missile and energy hardpoints. So no matter what the GB and the regular variants are relegated to the trashbin due to scaling and hitbox drawing.

The regular Kintaros can mount 360 engines, which puts them over 110kph, and as the Dragon has shown us going fast enough helps cover for gigantic CTs.

I have found what is almost a viable build for this ugly beast. Admittedly I could do better with several other mechs, but 2xLarge Lasers+1 ERPPC+a chest full of ssrm2's seems to be working 'okay'. If I can keep it in mid to long range, I am good. The streaks tend to work well as fly swatters.

However, I still end more matches than not with light to no damage anywhere but my sadly missing CT. Cored like an apple.

Best tip I have for piloting this hulking pile of {Scrap} that I bought out of a fond memory of TT many years ago is keep centered. ALWAYS KEEP CENTERED.

When drop tonnage goes into effect this guy is getting stripped and thrown on the wall for target practice in the lab.
