Hi guys, had a quick question regarding paints & camos & such.

I bought MC for the first time & wanted to paint up my mechs, I was wondering how it works.

For example if I buy a Basic Red paint, can I use it only once? Can I use it on ALL mechs, or just the mech I buy it for?

Same with camo patterns, I saw there was a "use once" or something like that, and an "unlockable" selection. The "Use once" means I can only use it once? Or I can only use it on one mech?

Sorry if it seems rather noobish of me, I just don't wanna go around buying paints & stuff if I have no idea how they work.

Thanks in advance :)

Paint once purchased can be used on any mech as often as you want.

Patterns/Camo are Mech/Mech Model specific and have both single use and unlimited use versions.
For example you could buy a single use of Fraken your catapult (1 mech) for cheap.
Or you could pick up unlimited uses of Fraken for all of your catapults (all Cats) for a pretty penny.

Regarding single-use camo applications; once applied it will stay on the mech forever unless you change the pattern. You can change the colours as often as you like, but if you change the pattern the previous pattern is lost. Since it costs 1/10th the cost of a permanent camo, if you change your camo fewer than 10 times across all variants of a chassis, it's cheaper to buy single-use camos.

If you want ot change your pattern, and you want to do so more than 10 times (including all variants of the same chassis) then you need a permanent camo unlock.

As they said above, but...

Warning!
Right now UI 2.0 has a bug with paint. I'd advise waiting on it until the hotfix is announced and done.

Notes from patch make light of it, but I wasn't able to paint any mech at all. Even after multiple attempts to return to the screen.

Fourth - We have an issue with Camo Spec not showing up correctly . This is fairly minor so just leave the screen and return and it should be fine.

Thanks for clarifying, that helped out a lot, I appreciate it

Also, thank YOU very much for the heads up. I had heard something about a paint bug, but didn't know how serious it was. I will go ahead & wait for a while before buying any paint to be sure I don't glitch it out.

Thanks everyone.

Yep. Just waiting for these myself.

Quote

First - We have a log in issue that can affect a low percentage of users. If you are hit with this issue please be patient as you can restart the client and attempt another log in do this until you succeed. Skipping the video intros with the ESC key also seems to lower the chance.

Second - We have an issue with consumables that are used during a match not being unequipped, yet they are not valid for the next match. You can avoid this bug by not leaving matches early or equipping modules for the time being.

Third – Activate BANKED premium time currently doesn’t work– so if you have banked time and you were going to activate it today you’re going to have to wait for the HOT FIX!

Fourth - We have an issue with Camo Spec not showing up correctly . This is fairly minor so just leave the screen and return and it should be fine.

Did you say HOT FIX? Yes I did. The team has been burning the midnight oil to get UI 2.0 out to you, and while it isn’t perfect, it is a step in the right direction. The above issues are our number one priority to get fixed asap. We’re going to address the most critical issues in a hot fix once we have confirmed fixes.

Hotfixes are usually super fast, I figure by Friday we'll have it.

Typically on Friday is a paint sale anyway.

I painted a couple mechs yesterday, no problem. Though I owned the colors already so maybe that's why it wasn't a problem.

sorry bro, but I haven't had any problem with paining my mechs. It's clearly not a universal issue.

....I have no idea whether I have all of mine or not - that is one thing I actually think the old UI did better. :D
(showing the mech in the paint is better here - finding the pain you are looking for on the other hand....)

Been trying to come up with constructive feedback on the new UI - lots in it I don't like, but being not sure WHY I dislike it makes it tricky to be constructive about it.

My Paints did not show up until I clicked one of the lower paints squares!,.. then the paint options show up. They were white until I did that try that.

What i do, is when paints go on sale i pick up colors i like... I only buy the ones that cost 250 on sale though.. they have a nice mix of colors though. a little more muted in comparison to the premium.

colors you spend C-bills on, i am not sure if you can use those on all mechs or not.. i never bought any.

Colors for Cbills function exactly like colors for MC - only difference is how you pay for them.
(I haven't bought any - friend did - they are on my list of things to buy after I get some modules though)
