Hi Mechwarrior fans and developers :)

Well... I post this topic because I miss so much the Computer voice when you detect a mech, when you are Damaged or the clasical voice when you start your engine: "reactors online, sensors online, weapons online, all system nominal" breeeeep booop!

hehehehe I hope you considered that suggestions, I hate the time when mechwarrior 4 dont put the CPU voice :/...

See ya! greetings from Chile (sorry, my english isn't good...)

ohh! its great idea! this voices when you start engine can be during the countdown to start a match. all players start with shoutdown mech, then when countdown start, then players can hear that voices, and mech start working in the end. so when players waiting for other players they can look around cockpit, and chatting without dim screen :)

it should be really cool, i hope this idea will be accepted! greetings from Poland!

I would like to support this idea. Even though it seems like a small thing, the mechanised female voice intoning while powering up was a very cool aesthetic, and would be missed if it or its equivalent was not included. In the same vein, purely for the sense of place and environment, it would be cool if, during loading screens, we instead had a bridging cinematic or in game sequence that had us clicking switches to power up our mechs, or had us thundering down to a landing site in a rocket cradle from low orbit or skydrop. No other reason than it would be cool, fit the cannon and set the tone for the upcoming conflict.

Yup I've been looking for this thread!
What I'm really missing is the audio cue of the computer voice which aid you in the middle of a fight. Good old MW2 had anouncements like "critical hit, Heat sink" , "critical hit, LRM, weapon destroyed". In the heat of an awesomly memorable fight (where you were undoubatably going against the odds or compleatly smashed from poor tatics) this little voice let you know 'stuff is busted, don't try using' it without you having to look at the HUD and leavign you to concentrate on the fight. I also think it make it feel like you're piloting a huge machine that is big enough to has it's own sensors and computer-intelligence to support the pilot, rather than feeling like you're a lone soldier walking around the battlefield with nothing other than radio comms. This could be integrated to the critical sustem being trialed.
The suggestion for '"enemy Detected' voice might not work well with the new idea of 'intelliegence' where sensors pick up enemies and then loose them again. Might need some trial to see if it anoys people. regardless the computer announcer voice could be an option in settings if if people don't like it. I for one am really missing it to round off the feeling of returning to a real mech simulator after all these years...

It could get annoying. Endearing to hear it in the old games, but it could be a bit much without the option to turn it off. In fact, it would be better if the voice was off by default, and had to be turned on. Yeah... that could work. It might have to be a little different from the old voice though, especially if different types of mech had different computer voices or something.

This does present the problem of the company having to lock down some VAs to do the AI voice and the game's already in Beta. For what it's worth, despite the obstacles I think it's a fine idea. The devs described this as a simulator game still, so that kind of locks in the sim feeling (and is thus worth having)!

I believe this matter has been adressed in other topics.
Some guys believe that a voice indication for enemies would not be that good, since, by the current gameplay, the radar doesn't work as in old MW games. The devs said they want radar to be poor, so the scouts are more important to the team. So imagine you losing and regaining targets in a matter of seconds, everytime.. this doesn't sound good to me.
BUT, the start voice, it's a MUST HAVE ! A lot of guys are asking for that. I'm sure the devs will include it somewhere down the line.

An startingvoice would be realy cool and shall be a must to put in the game. For the radar use it wont work cause you lost the signature pretty quick, but for the stats like heat or critical hits would be usefull.

greetings from Germany and sorry for bad english ;-)

Definately a computer voice! It makes the mech feel more... mechish. Plus it's just cool to have a computer chick telling you what's going on if you lose an appendage or that your mech started up correctly that way you can focus entirely on the combat or mission.

From the Q&A:

Q: Will you be adding B****in' Betty? This just wouldn't be the complete MechWarrior experience without her cold yet soothing voice telling me everything that's going wrong. [Alpha One]
A: We'd be fools not to. [Garth]

I fully support the idea of a computer voice notifying you of damage, reactor heat, etc. and also the system online notifications. MW2 was a fabulous game, so continuity between this release and that one is great: especially in regards to the computer voice.

I support this idea too. You don't need "Target detected" messages, because you receive enough visual cues, and an audio beep every time, but I would definitely want to have damage to the components or running out of ammo reported by the AI. "Shutting down" and Powering up messages would also give me a nostalgic feel.
Should be optionable,of course.

We MUST have the AI voice indicate incoming missiles, overheating, shutdown/startup, etc all these audible cues in my opinion are better than the annoying flashy overheating this game has. But what do I know, I'm just a freeborn......

I've seen quite a few people suggest a custom computer voice option. Like, have a wide range of voice actors of different sexes, accents, tones, etc, and also using classic sounds from MW2 and MW3.

I haven't seen this particular voice suggested from what I've read so far, and I'm very surprised...maybe I'll get shot with a PPC for doing so:
Morgan Freeman computer voice.

And just for kicks, George Takei...?
"Reactor online, sensors online, weapons online, all systems nominal."
"Enemy detected."
"Right leg destroyed...oh myyyyy..."
(I'm totally joking with this last suggestion, though. I just can't stop thinking about how hilarious it would be to hear that.)

[waits for the PPC to hit him] I CAN DREAM!!! xD

I might be restating what's already been suggested, but I'm just trying to back it up here, is all.
