Hi all,

This may have been suggested before, but I got thinking about all the heat-scaling adjustments for the last few patches. While these adjustments are obviously in the best interests of gameplay balance, in the end I believe the community feels that it will be 'nerfing' one way or the other... and perhaps finding a happy medium is kind of an elusive hunt. You'll never satisfy everyone.

So my proposal is to perhaps look at it from a different perspective. Again, I apologize if this has been suggested...

Perhaps a solution for high heat generation and the NEED for proper 'mech build and in-combat heat management would be successive performance hits to the 'mechs themselves.

Specifically, I mean that high heat generation from alpha strikes or grouped fire of "high heat" weapons (PPCs, LLs, LPLs, ACs) impacting the physical performance of the 'mech and possibly of the pilot.

This could be translated to:

- decrease in 'mech movement speed
- decrease in maneuverability
- decrease in range/speed of torso twisting
- decreased weapons convergence
- pilot vision blur (from sweat) or tunnel vision effect (like in flight simulators when you pull high Gs or negative Gs).

I understand that this would again change game dynamics (and require new/more coding), but perhaps it could be a viable solution to the current need to adjust heat generation from weapons. In either case, players one way or the other will find a way to build their mech to 'get around' heat penalties.

It would also lend itself more to the canon as mechwarriors always had to be mindful of the tradeoff of heat from weapons fire and the subsequent impact to their mech's performance.

Example:

Alpha strike your enemy but you don't end up killing him. The trade off is that now your mech turns slower than usual (until the heat dissipates) giving just that bit more of edge to your enemy to hit you from your flanks and rear. Next time, you'll know to manage your weapons and heat better.
