It's fan made.

So well done, they decided to put it up on the front page, and Alex is most definitely a fan.

first one is definately official by alex, but there for comparison.

Its definately different from the Founders mechs hwere alex actually went and repainted them.

But if those phoenix mechs are fan made idon't see why they would put them on the Google+ to mislead people. many people have posted comments.

Because PGI can't make anything as good mechwarrior fans can.

Oh, haha.

I get what you are asking.

Yeah these were spotted on Google Plus a few weeks ago

Straight from MWO's google plus page, doesn't get much more official than that.

But are they real?! They look like community repaints. But at this time, no community member has access to high rez phoenix mech arts.

Except the locust, nobody would have a high rez enough picture of the phoenix mechs to modify it into what those on google+ look like.

I think just because of that fact, these must be official. Maybe they are just understaffed on artists, and instead of having alex repaint the phoenix variants, they just photoshopped them.

Of course they are real, check the Project phoenix details : http://mwomercs.com/phoenix

The phoenix mechs come with limited addition camo, paint and geometry. See the roll bars and extended pads and other do-dads? That's the additional geometry.

It's legit

yeah i know about the phoenix mechs.

I was just skeptical about the custom geometry concept art, because community members have been known to do similar things.

I like the Jager.

But yeah it's Legit-a-pot-o-mus.

That's not to say they may not fine tune things during translation from 2d - 3d. *shrug*

Sighs. C'mon, seriously?

Not only is it official, it was on PGI's announced google+ page, on PGI's facebook page, and on Alex's twitter.

P.S.: I could understand skepticism, it's all in where you find it.

Slight sarcastic exaggeration although I meant his deviant art. http://flyingdebris.deviantart.com/ And no he doesn't actually have any official art there.

Check out the Fan Fiction I made for that Locust: http://mwomercs.com/...-artwork-fluff/

Shame they didn't do a story for it.

Though I got talked into doing a story for all 4 of em and they all tie into each other.

Oct. couldn't be here quick enough.

Watch your mouth! The JM6-A is one of my favorite mechs! If they hadn't flattened the cockpit dome, I daresay the in game model would be almost perfect. :)

really? its sharing the same launcher as the trebuchet though. (and the kintaro's dynamic LRM hardpoint)

I think it would still look cool if they gave it a entirely unique arm, instead of just tacking on the lrm rack. Like how they gave the catapult K-2 an overhaul over its missile variants. but that's just my opinion.

Red Dawn (and yes, Nvidia Dawn rides in the cockpit) is one of my faves. I think that if the mech had the bulged cockpit dome, it would be about the perfect Jager render. THe vertical racks, IMO, suit the look of the Jager far more than those horizantals on that fan art. Plus, while the modelers squished the head, they seriously SAVED the basic arm/cannon combo, as IMO, Alex did some of his least inspired work on this guy and the BJ.

i'm not a fan of the squished face either. In the concept art it was much more protruding. for a more barrel look. I think otherwise it looks great, but the torso shape really didn't trasnalte well from 2d concept to 3d model in this one.
