so we just had a "dakka" match, everyone comes with AC5s or uac5s and lets dakka. I killed a victor which didn't move (legged him) and a stalker i think. So everything is fine and then someone says "nice hacking" and "you shot me through the hill" and so on.

i was just WTF but they were quite serious aobut it and said they recorded it (i hope to see it).

So is this the new smacktalk? is it a map error? afaik you cant hack "hitting" because its server authoritive, so whats about it?

i'm aware that someone accused of hacking says he didnt hack is a bit... untrustworthy... but still, i didn't hack. Hell, the only thing i did was macro'ing my AC5s... but this upsets me...

I think the likely answer is that they called you a hacker for the same reason they got shot up in the first place: they don't have situational awareness and thought that you didn't have a shot on them, when you apparently did.

Also, AFAIK the maps tend to err on the side of hitboxes extending beyond visual terrain features. You can use this to troll snipers on River City and Tourmaline ;)

Don't sweat it. Macro's are allowed.
What you can do, is report the match yourself and tell your side of the story, then it is up to PGI to adjudicate based on the evidence, if there is any. It CAN happen that there is an error in the map, so the rough co ordinates and map might help PGI track down bugs, anyway.

At most you will be watched for a while, by having more extensive logs of your activities requested over a period of time

Why don't you PM the accuser, say you are willing to co operate, as you think there is a bug, and report it together to clear this up. My bet is he will disappear.

Sounds like the typical effects of HSR.

On his screen he was probably behind cover. On your screen he wasn't yet. So when you tell the server you're shooting him the server confirms that you did indeed shot him. It then tells him he was shot and applies the damage. Since he was behind cover on his screen it looked as if he was hit through the hill.

Report them for harassing you or something similar and get them banned or something.

Getting accused of hacking is the greatest compliment you can get. Congratz.

I remember my first time. Rocket jumping to a quad on a ledge in Quake. Turn & spam rockets. OMG hax!

Two problems in the game:

#1 - HSR means that you can be "behind cover" while being hit by shots that "should have missed" by your client by up to 0.5 seconds or so. It's annoying. It makes trying to take cover a bit meaningless at times.

#2 - Hit detection is based on the game's drawing engine and there have been known flaws within it when things didn't draw correctly.

Being accused of hacking, when innocent should be considered a compliment.

However...

If you come across a player you suspect of cheating in one way or another, please report him to support at support@mwomercs.com. If available, please include the following information in your mail:
- Name of player suspect of cheating/hacking
- type of suspected hack
- map played
- date, time and timezone
- names of witnesses
- screenshots or links to video media

That said, before this thread turns into a discussion of what an aimbot or other cheat can or can not do, which is prohibited by our code of conduct, I'll close the thread.
