I would strongly imagine such, but it is not something I can guarantee.
A way to check would be going into a random match, find one of the newer mechs (the mechs that actually change visual when you change weapons) and then hit the tip of one of these weapons to see if it registers.
It would be semi hard to do, since most ppl move alot, but try it out and the matter will quickly be settled.

Yes, they are. Which actually if PGI did not shorten the barrels on many torso mounted weapons PPCs perhaps it would better discourage their boating.
Tip: The back of a mech's head counts as its front torso. This is useful because you can stand behind your enemy and hit them in the front, and sometimes they won't even know you're there.
