I don't see how the Kintaro-18,19 or 20 out performs the 5N in the LRM30 department. The tube count is not comparable.

Few things I contend.

TBT-5J makes one of these most mobile, hardest hitting medium mechs in the game. Hands down better than the Quickdraw.

The TBT arms are excellent at soaking damage and allowing you the ability to not just use it as a shield arm but use both of them as shield arms.

The TBT has much better hitboxes. Though still a bigger CT than a centurion it makes it perfect for an XL, but additionally the side torso's ARE big enough that you can roll the torso to absorb damage on your side torso's.

TBT with 2 LRM15's + Artemis and Quad meds is all you ever need for a missile boat.

I still use my TBT's a lot. The 5J and the 7K

I sold all my QD's for being a steaming pile of rubbish.

As for the KTO's that hitbox automatically takes them out of contention for any sort of competitive environment.

Until the Shadowhawk comes around the TBT is still the premier mobile medium mech and dedicated missile boat until you get to the catapults.

This is what generally always happens in my TBT

I take damage, and LOTS of it.

The TBT is so well balanced it's scary that I can spread damage so well with it and stay alive. I have 320 points of armor on that variant and I would be surprised if I had 30 points of armor left total.

p.s. We won and I survived.

My Quick disagrees:

on hot maps can only use one system, on cold both can be in play.

This would be much better for the Treb, if it weren't for the fact that almost all of it's guns are in the arms.
Also the Kintaro gets more hardpoints.

I like guns in the arms. I can aim them better as I strafe people running by. Do the arms go first? Sure. It happens.

Trebuchet, or Trenchbucket - very fast (for mediums right now) with suprisingly good firepower. give yourself TAG, a whole bunch of LRM5s and ARTEMIS and you're good. LRM5s and Artemis together are practically just long-range streaks. really fun to use, too.

Lrm5 with arty is to much a weight tax! An extra ton for a 2 ton wep is crap! Arty is for the bigger lrm launchers, yes. Lrm5 nope!

Whoever said Quickdraws were worse than Trebuchet in dishing out PPC damage is crazy. The Quickdraw has the major advantage of the high torso energy mounts that are perfect for poptarting. It surpasses the TBT-5J by far (although I had the most success of the energy heavy 5J when grinding the Trebuchets).

The problem with the Kintaro is that the Trebuchet is a better overall mobile LRM platform due to JJs. Both mechs are just not optimal to brawl with SRMs with, no matter how you slice it. The Trebuchet has a slight edge due to hitboxes, despite the Kintaro having more missile hardpoints.

The treb has side torsos that can be hit so it makes for a better high speed brawler if you're skilled in spreading out the damage with creative jump jetting.

Kintaro is better at LRM spam. Actually I'd rate it higher than the catapult in that regard because it doesn't give the other team a chance at a seriously powerful phract of jager build.

The Cent 9A is a better SRM platform since it's quite litterally one of the hardest mechs to kill in the game. Assuming you can avoid getting legged.

My TBT-7M with 3 x MLs, 2 x SRM6, SRM2 (where Narc tube was), XL300, BAP, and 15 DHS is a pretty darn good SRM brawler. Slightly over 106 KPH with speed tweak and maxed out JJs. It has speed and maneuverability to run around opponents and elusiveness to get out of bad jams. The best is to jump over a hill, or ridge, and hit the enemy with a full volley on your descent. Then hammer away at them. If things get a bit hairy, just JJ right out of there.
