Wow....

PPCs are precision weapons. 2 PPCs and a Gauss can cockpit any mech in one shot. So theoretically a perfect sniper could run 2 PPCs, Gauss, and rack up 12 kills in about 420 damage.

A more realistic approach to sniping is when you target a side torso when you suspect an XL engine or CT for standard engines. Killing the enemy is far better than hurting the enemy, and doing so efficiently minimizes damage output. Sniper weapons: minimal damage, maximum effect.

I regularly do well in sniper builds, as do many others. In response to the last line of the OP's second post, PPCs are still good. 2 PPCs and gauss, 3 PPCs and gauss, dual gauss, 3 PPCs, and 4 PPCs fired in 2 groups of 2 or chained: all still good. Evidence in 2 PPC and gauss Victor from 2 nights ago (anyone *CAN* do a ton of damage with PPCs and gauss, but I'm having a hard time believing the OP has a 750+ damage average with gauss and mlas in a Cata-3D. If it's true, then congratulations because that is f'n amazing.)

Spoiler

On a pure early morning sleep deprived troll note after reading the initial post:
"The size of the hand required for this face palm will blot out the sun!"
"Then we will complain in the shade!"

Now please die thread, just die.

PPCs are fine, I wouldn't mind seeing a NERF, but a BUFF would be just ridiculous.
I have to say this even if he's just a troll :/
I need 2-3 good shots to kill most Heavys with the dual PPC/Gauss Phract. Its not about doing damage or DPS, its about doing damage that really hurts your enemys, but you obviously don't understand that.

I just noticed that you said the dual AC20 Jager was too weak.

I think PPCs are for the most part way over-hyped and demonized.

I personally don't use them because I get better results with other builds. But then again, I'm not a long range type of guy; short and mid range are my specialty.

I also don't start crying when I see them on the field or when I get alpha'd with one. Because I know if I let one kill me, it was because fuct up and didn't use cover properly...or the PPC gunner outsmarted me. This is how it should be.

I lIke the posters that come in and say "I don't use PPCs, and I do better in mechs without PPCs. Buff PPCs so other players can kill me better, because I don't use PPCs, really."

Wow... Just Wow! A Clan PPC or a Gauss is all you need to be decapped n TT. 3 times the weight in weapons to get it done here. :)

And just who dictated that ranged combat and sniping was the role of a PPC...You? The Community? The Playerbase? Because it sure isn't through battletech lore or TT rules.

In TT you could fairly easily run a dual PPC set up either heat neutral or relatively heat neutral. This was way mechs such as the Warhammer and Marauder were so deadly. These mechs weren't snipers, they were designed to function well at all ranges and have a great sustained firepower rate.

Hey OP! Dude, what are you on? You either need to lay off it or double up. You sound like a blabbering ***** and then wonder why you get flamed. Learn something.

Maurader had 16 sink heat sinks and 2 PPCs.
Warhammer was a little better at 18 SHS to support 2 PPCs.

Silly Boy, My Warhammer had no SRM, no small lasers or MGs and 21 sinks + more armor and the Marauder sacrificed the AC for the sinks and more armor. OM NOM NOM!!!
